Hmm . . . rock has aged, keep repackaging. Better to re-release than to fade away.

True. A big milestone. But I really wonder how much this can mean to the fan, young, old, or otherwise? You can celebrate a memory. You can repackage it too.

My question is: what are you buying exactly? For me, these sorts of things are best celebrated by putting the original back in rotation, perhaps playing a YouTube clip or two.

I guess I am grumpy.

No, HIM, it's just that it's nothing special except that it's unavailable on iTunes, so you're forced to buy it or go on the dark interwebs for it.

If they want to make a repackage job special, they need to do just that, i.e. The Who "Live at Leads", etc. where the repackage job is extraordinary, pretty much making it a necessity.
