Def Leppard To Open For Bon Jovi

This is just baffling to me. Def Leppard will open for Bon Jovi on a handful of European dates next summer. Def Leppard is a bigger band than Bon Jovi and that is most certainly true in Europe of all places! But whatever, shows are shows and maybe they all just want to hang together. Who knows. I sure would love to go to Sweden Rock someday. I am going to Spain and Italy next summer - but no shows planned!

Idk, neither has released a good album, in over 20 years. Need to call this the "we need to retire asap" tour! And will the diminutive one Phil Collen ever put on a shirt? Lol

Bon Jovi is a much bigger band than Def Leopard; Europe or otherwise. Either way, the headliner pays the opener. If Jon want to hire the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Madonna to open for him, I'm sure he can afford it.

Sorry, Europe or no, Def Leppard is not close to as big as Bon Jovi.

All a matter of opinion, right? I prefer DL to BJ. I think they are bigger. But what do I know? When they package these things, they are making calculations far beyond us mere mortals.

At this point, it is really just about moving around the nostalgic chess pieces in search of a win for revenues. So if it wins, it works. If it doesn't, they rejigger it for the next go-around.

I know that sounds calculating. But isn't that the way it has always been? We are just more aware of it now, as there are fewer and fewer pieces to move around in winning combinations.

#curious. DL opened for KISS a few years ago. Who's a "bigger" band? KISS or Bon Jovi? I'm still going with Bon Jovi.

They’ve both sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

I think the question is who is the better band ...

And that is obviously, Def Leppard.

I mean, compare the two bands’ most recognizable respective hits, “Photograph” vs. “Livin’ On A Prayer”.

Exactly!

HIM is on it here ... They’ve got computers figuring out who should headline. Irony is, no Sambora ...

Therefore, I wouldn’t be surprised if Def Leppard blows Bon Novi off the stage before he even hits the first plank!

I rest my case.

In my eyes Def Leppard are the better band but Bon Jovi almost has to be the headliner on this. Hopefully Lepp comes out and KILLS some On Through The Night and High And Dry material along with some greatest hits, then Jon comes out and does his Carrie Underwood shtick with no Sambora. One can dream right?
