How Many Times: Warrant Edition
Notwithstanding anything, I've heard all those songs an approximate combined total of 985,633 times. For whatever reason, I settled on Warrant and said out loud "How many times have we heard 'Down Boys'?" to which Eric just snickered. I do wonder how many times I've heard that particular song. It's weird. I bet I've listened to Def Leppard's entire Hysteria album more than any other record over the course of my life. It never really feels old to me. But man, "Down Boys" seemed old yesterday and it just grated on me. Must be burn out?

For what it's worth, I asked them to play some Saraya about eight years ago. "Love has Taken it's Toll" is still in rotation! As much as I appreciate it and love the song, I just can't believe they won't play another cut from the band.
Great observation, Allyson!
I agree Bob "You've got a lot of nerve to call me cheap, even though it's true" is one of the greatest lyrics ever.
Now Jackyl........every time they come on, I can’t tune out fast enough.
Personally. I honestly NEVER get tired of “Down Boys” (or “Big Talk”) and it sounds no more dated than Def Leppard or any of the other crap I listen to.
If anything, “Down Boys” sounds fresher than almost anything from our favorite bands, save for their few and far between truly great and original sounding tunes, i.e. Gn’R’s “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, “New Thing” by Enuff Z’ Nuff, “Livewire” by Motlëy Crüe, “Round and Round” by RATT, “Turbo Lover” by Priest, “Lick It Up” by KISS and a few others that still sound groundbreaking to me to this day.
p.s. Please remind me of any I may have forgotten!
I never get tired of the original warrant. I was driving to Colorado shortly after reading this and down boys came on, so I cranked it a bit louder.
😎🤘
But I get the point everyone is making. Pandora isn't much better, though you can down-vote songs you don't like to get a better set of options. And, thing is, Pandora is free.
Sirius/XM is a "greatest hits for those that really only know the greatest hits" sorta' option. And it costs you to get that pleasure. Which is fine for short drives (with zero interference from trees, mountains, clouds, and any other sort of thing). Or it is a great way to spend a few hours while working at home if it is part of your DISH subscription.
I guess I love the fact that there are options out there for listening to the music we love, since the terrestrial stations could give a duck about it (quack, quack). But we, like every other segment, have to take the good with the bad with the repeated. In that sense, stations like Hair Nation (or even the Pandora) are a repeat of what we always experienced: listen to it long enough and the songs start to repeat. Anyone who has worked in customer service knows this lesson well, esp. if the corp. rule is that one station is the only station.
My approach: when the songs start to repeat, I switch to my mp3 player and let my own poor choices take over!
