Metal Monday Memories

I was cleaning out my basement yesterday and I came across some of my record collection. I flipped through it briefly, because I didn't want to slow my momentum of decluttering. I did, however, stop to look at the Roxx Gang album I came across. We never talk about them much here so I thought today was a good day to do so.

The album I came across was the 1988 debut Things You've Never Done Before. I never had this album when it was new (I was 8 or so when it came out). I picked up the Roxx Gang vinyl about a decade ago I'd say. I didn't listen to it much. A few times, my record player broke and so the albums went into storage. But today, here's some Roxx Gang:

I love this album. I still play it once or twice a year. Just some great sleeve rock.

Nothing else Kevin Steele ever did resonated with me, but I think he hit it out of the park with this one album.

Things You've Never Done Before is a glam metal classic, and one that I own on several formats, as well as a 7" single for "Scratch My Back"

I also liked the follow up "voodoo you know",, they landed several songs from that album on a Playboy video called "Girls Of South Beach"

Heard Scratch My Back on ZROCK long before Sirius XM. Luv this album and great live band on this tour! One of my favs.

Is it just me or does Steele sound like some combo of Drivin' and Cryin's Kevin Kinney and D.A.D.'s Jesper Binzer? Especially on this song, I hear both vocalists, but perhaps that is due to the song.

The look was "over the top" even for that time..but the record had some really cool songs...I still play it from time to time...
