Autograph Release 'Every Generation' Video
Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 12:01AM
More new music! Today, a new video from Autograph. The clip is for the song "Every Generation" taken from the new album Get Off Your Ass. Whenever I think of Autograph, I think summer. A perfect, carefree party band, we're getting to the time of year where it is great to pop on some Autograph and kick back. It's good we're getting so many new videos from our favorites lately. What do you think of this track?

Here's the thing. I got pulled in by the intro (the section from about :20 to :28). Why? I was actually thinking about Autograph, the old version. The one with Plunkett and "Bosom Buddies Tom Hanks" Richards (RIP and what a waste). I was expecting "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me" or "Blondes In Black Cars." Now, nothing about that lead-in should have got my mind thinking about old times. But it did.
Which brings me to my point. This Autograph sound nothing like that Autograph. But they have to fly that flag if this band has any chance of getting slots at festivals, etc. Which is a shame. Except that it isn't probably. I highly doubt they could book shows as "Transcription, featuring members of Autograph." So they love what they do. They do what they love. I get it. But, on its own merits, this would barely register if not for that name.
Call it fate. Call it economics. Call it life. I wish them well. But I would only seek them out if they were the third or fourth band on a larger ticket (translation: I wouldn't seek them out unless they played down the block from me, for free, and only then to hear revved up version of the songs I actually think about when I think about Autograph). Like I said, wish them well.

Killer rock n roll from Texas. Even did a cover of Dream On. Not one of my favorite songs they play but still decent.
Yeah, it ain’t as good as the Aerosmith original, but it’s a nice alternative to enable continued listening of a tune I overplayed by the end of 1973, not long after I got the album which might as well have been glued to my turntable at the time. Well, that and Zep’s “Houses of the Holy” ...
Thanks for the tip, Badland!
