Lindsey Buckingham Fired From Fleetwood Mac

So the members of Fleetwood Mac fired Lindsey Buckingham over disagreements about the band's upcoming tour. No tour dates have yet been announced but Mike Campbell and Neil Finn will take the place of Buckingham. This seems stupid to me, but whatever. I can't imagine Buckingham cares too much or needs the money. We'll see how this pans out.

He wrote one of the greatest road trip songs ever: “Holiday Road”, famous from the National Lampoon movies. The guy is a stud on guitar and can write a hell of a pop/rock song.

'Holiday Road' is one of my favorite songs. It just honestly always cheers me up. (It doesn't hurt that I love the Chevy Chase Lampoon's movies). - Allyson

Given the soap opera that this band has been since the mid 70s, I suspect the reason for Buckingham's firing is far more intriguing than simply a tour disagreement.

So now he can go his own way?

Just curious.

So it takes 2 guitartists to replace one ?

Apparently so GNR, that's what they did back in '87 too when he was replaced by Billy Burnette and Rick Vito.

@Him. Lmfao! (Apparently The Chain can’t keep them together?)

As stated above, the dude is an incredibly gifted guitarist. Amazes me every time I watch him how well he can finger pick. Also, as Bob stated, through the years these folks make Ratt look stable by comparison.

Well done, Gary. Well done. I set 'em up and you knock 'em down!!!

FM has always been Mick's band (well, at least since Green departed early on). Plus side: we got some great songs given the direction the band went after its early, blues, years. Bonus plus side: Green provided us with "The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Prong Crown)" before he departed (which led us to the Priest version). Downside: all those who work in the band are largely beholden to Mick, regardless the "unity and togetherness" shtick he peddles.

And you can't tell me that Mick's genius isn't equaled by his quirky (some might call it creepy) personality.
