Lizzy Borden 'Long May They Haunt Us'

Lizzy Borden has a new video. The clip is for the track "Long May They Haunt Us" from the new album My Midnight Things.

The album is available June 15 via Metal Blade. This track isn't your typical Lizzy Borden... listen and let me know what you think.

I like it. I have never seen him live for some reason. I am going to make it a point to buy this record and see him on this run. Seems he doesn't tour the US allot. Solid tune.

Gregory Charles Harges is certainly a unique and gifted part of metal history. Lizzy Borden really didn't have that long of a span in the mainstream-ish metal spotlight. I think that had a lot to do with changing trends and the fact that his shtick (since it really has been his band, no disrespect to Scott or Nelson [RIP]) was always an acquired taste, even if it leaned into the theatrical aspects of metal that so many other bands mined with far greater success. The national act WASP/Lawless being the first one to come to mind, with Cooper obviously also amping up his game after a series of artistic, and drug-induced, missteps . . . and King Diamond providing an interesting international variation on the same.

I also think two other factors are at play: (a) the band's overall catalog, though spiked with some great tunes, wasn't particularly strong; and (b) Metal Blade couldn't figure out how to properly promote them (a problem which a lot of bands on that label faced when metal moved into the mainstream; hence, a lot of ship jumping for the biggies).

Perhaps the new album will get them out and about on a club tour of some sort, or early day spots at some of the regional festivals. When I saw them a few years back at Rock n' America, he was in fine form and a pleasure to watch. He was also, off stage, very approachable and appreciative of the fans' response to his set.

Give him credit. He's been toiling in the trenches for a long time,in an over saturated (as Him points out) "I just may be a pseudo evil satanist cause it'll sell some records" market. Hell, the Crue mined it in the early 80's to get on the map,and Ozzy has made hundreds of millions over the years as"The Prince Of Darkness". I'll also guess you can't gain entry into Norway without a pentagram tattooed on your neck and the ability to beer bong blood from a goats skull while torching a church.

But as Him also points out, the dude has had some kick ass songs that were surrounded by a lot of not so kick ass songs. Probably why he never could get the fame of the Crue or Ozz, who backed up the schtick with shit tons of killer songs.

Definitely not American Metal or Me against the world. Which are two of my favorite Lizzy tracks. Gary you kill me - you can't gain entry into Norway without a pentagram tattooed on your neck and the ability to beer bong blood from a goats skull while torching a church. Hilarious have a Metal Memorial Day and don't forget to toast our lost brothers and sisters that died to keep us free.
