Let’s hope Axl gets back with Angus and cuts a new album with AXL/DC, a project of REAL integrity that will truly ROCK, not this mish-mash of mediocrity!
p.s. Hey, Badland ... I love how you Foxonians always point out something from the past to divert from the latest of your lost battles. Thankfully, Trump had to fix his own problem instead of wasting even more of Congress’ already wasted time. Your people are bailing left and right but I guess you’ll be one of the last on this sinking ship. Just remember, your Captain will have choppered out from the top deck long before you realize it!
Wish Slash would bring back Snakepit. That was a great concert!
I just don't get this band. It has all the makings of being great. But it is just "meh." Same issue I had with Velvet Revolver.
And "Mild Kennedy," Metalboy!? Hahaha. Another gut punch. I so appreciate the laughs.
p.s. Hey, Badland. That doesn’t hurt at all. Remember, I said all that BEFORE Comey and the Russians helped Trump. What hurts is my gut from laughing so hard at clowns like you who will watch the House flip and Trump be a one term President. See you when we join the Space Force! Oh, what? What’s that? Me waving to you from the launching pad as you take off, never to be seen again. Well, you do have another option ... Getting swept away by a big beautiful blue Tsunami coming in 2018 with an aftershock (for you) in 2020! Bon Voyage!!!

HIM! I pretty much agree with you except I think Velvet Revolver was pretty damn good. I saw ‘em twice! It was cool listening to Slash “punch up” the Stone Temple Pilots stuff and Weiland do justice to the Gn’R stuff.
As many of you may realize, Weiland was the Robin Zander of Grunge Pop. Just like Zander aping the voices of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant and Bob Dylan, etc., so could Weiland do pretty spot on impressions of Kurt Cobain and Axl Rose. You may know this if you ever caught Velvet Revolver live.
Too bad the guy made such a mess of it all. What a talent! A true artist!
p.s. Guys, thanks for letting me know you appreciate the “Mild” Kennedy monniker. I may get a name right once in awhile, but you are the true masters at the often hilarious standup comedy when it comes to Comments around here!
Just saw another typo in my last comment, an occursnce which often leads to “unintentionally” amusing moments in Comments. I meant “ .... has to be ...”, not “... has me ....”
Just remember er, boyz, SLASH’s should also be the name of his act (in nice BIG chrome lettering) a la Van Halen or Bon Jovi. The way he’s got it now sounds stupid.
I really hope AXL would get back with Angus and record a new album as AC/DC. Axl has expressed interest in writing with Angus as Angus is such a prolific writer and so it seems is Axl when he puts his mind to it.
I contend it would be “Album of the Decade” should it ever happen.
First, Velvet Revolver had a lot of potential. So did Weiland. But fits and starts do not a supergroup make, nor, sadly, a long career that truly sees you stretch out once you get rid of your demons. To my mind, Josh Todd is a lesser and alive version of the spit and spirit and fire that Weiland lost and never regained. Velvet Revolver were there for part of the slide . . . and the product shows the strain.
Second, I question calling Angus prolific. I truly think Mal did the heavy lifting. I also think that, as the boys consolidated their grip on things (taking over lyrics, rejecting input, etc.), they started to spin a bit. With Bon, they had some lyrical heft to match their great riffs. If you believe the stories, Johnson was 'magically' inspired on BIB after never really writing many lyrics before that in Geordie. And, none too slowly, Angus and Mal took over everything. The results still stand up. But they got thinner and thinner as time wore on. That ROB was a culling of things that Angus did with Mal suggests pluses and minuses. They (Mal primarily) could still 'get it up'. But they were getting used to being known for doing the same ole same ole. No one was there to 'inject the venom'.
Now . . . I know where that might lead some of you. The question: so why not Axl? Inject that venom and get it up in new and different ways. I guess, in this instance, I would just say they should call themselves Angus Rose. That isn't fair, of course. But even Williams saw what was happening, noted it, before correcting himself lest he incurred the anger of Angus. The fact that Johnson remains so mum on how he was treated boggles my mind . . . save for the fact that he was a good replacement, a good employee, and is a humble guy . . . and well compensated to boot.
Listen, I love AC/DC. I love Axl (and loved GnR and said as much on this site before it became fashionable to tout them or do backflips because two people returned, one was treated as a loose cannon, and another wasn't offered parity, a la Bill Ward). I also get it. Axl loves himself some AC/DC and has re-injected some (hugely qualified) Bon-style swagger back into the band.
But let's be honest: some of that swagger is actually hype over a hybrid that works in spite of itself. So what you end up applauding is a novelty act. Even when they felt into a groove and had a hard time getting out of it, AC/DC were never a novelty act. So why become one now?
There is nothing left for AC/DC to prove. So why disprove something? And I say that knowing full well that Angus has every right to do whatever he wants. After all, it is his corporation now.
In other news, RIP Rhino Bucket. You carried the flame well and always tipped your hat to the originals while also being original.
Did you f*cking SEE AC/DC with Axl Rose?
That “tour” had Angus retuning his guitars to Bon Scott era tuning for the first time in 30 years. AND Cliff Williams remarked he hadn’t seen Angus that energized on stage in decades.
It’s no bullsh*t! As I’ve said before, I’ve seen AC/DC 11 times and between Johnson and Rose, Axl is the better singer and he took the sh*t seriously, practicing relentlessly and keeping his vocal coach with him the entire tour. And it showed. When I saw them in Atlanta, it was COMPLETELY mind blowing!!!
It was Axl who said he’d like to write and record with Angus!
I say, “Pull the trigger!”
