New Dee Snider Music

Dee Snider will release For The Love Of Metal on June 27. One of the tracks on that album is called "Become The Storm." You can check out the track below. It's pretty much straightforward metal. Nothing to complain about here!

I dunno . . . the more I hear of this, the more it feels like a misfire. It sounds like Snider on top of music that is way beyond his niche. Moreover, it sounds like he is straining (not vocally) to sound like he is 'on top' of the sound that Jasta has created for him (if that makes any sense).

Look, I give credit to Jasta for pushing Snider back into something closer to his wheelhouse than _We Are The Ones _ (2016). But this feels like a bid to stay relevant, not truly (ahem) _For The Love of Metal_.

And we all know: Snider casts about for the next project to keep him busy: radio show, Broadway tunes, etc., etc. It feels like he is over-thinking it. And, when he does that, he tends to trip. Getting back to basics would be a good start. Giving the fans what they want--not working to lure in new fans--would be a good place to start. The thing is, when you do something that seems authentically "you," you don't have to oversell it and you end up attracting new fans as well.

Him, seriously, thank you so much for saying all of this. Look, I've been a TS fan since about 1978, long before they got famous. I wish all of those guys nothing but success. That said, I just can't get into dee's new project so far. I think I may have mentioned that in an earlier post when the first song was released to Youtube. The two songs I've heard so far sound robotically digital, and they don't fit Dee's voice at all. It sounds like a square peg/round hole situation.

Personally I love the two new Dee Snider songs, a huge step up from his last solo album. Although this one had to grow on me, but I still think it's great, can't wait to hear the full album!

I see where you are coming from, Dj. I really do. But a huge step up from the last one is still many rungs away from his best. I just want him to recognize that a basic metal/rock song can still gain traction if you put some fire and spirit into it. Sometimes, 'old school' is exactly what you, and the market, need.

But, hey, I am glad you are loving it. I am certainly glad Snider is still out there.
