Avenged Sevenfold Cancels Tour
Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:22AM
You hate to see this happen. Avenged Sevenfold was forced to cancel its tour before it even started because singer M. Shadows got a horrible viral infection. I feel sorry for the band and also the fans who had tickets for this tour. I'm a big A7X fan and I've seen them live many times. I love their guitar work!
A MESSAGE FROM M. SHADOWS: There's no good way to start out a note containing bad news but here it is. A terrible viral infection has rendered me voiceless. Unfortunately, this means we have to cancel all tour dates at the moment. Full statement & details: https://t.co/LHPGTf2aXB pic.twitter.com/uY1mE6k2oV

But I read the singer's statement about the cancellation. I thought it was heart-felt and sincere. He definitely displayed class and sadness given the crap he is going through. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Let me add one more thing: I read this first on another site. My god, the sort of spiteful hate and uni-brow conspiracy-level junk that some people spew simply because they can. His band sucks. They cancelled because the opening acts were crap. On and on it goes . . . alongside some really spiteful garbage about Bennington (again, LP were a band I never cared for and also occasionally mocked). But really? You mock a person for not being able to perform and communicating that to his fan-base in an honest way and then, because posters on other sites seem to gravitate to throwing mud, go on to mock a man who killed himself?
My 'one more thing' is really about BBG! I am glad that people don't often take low-shots here. Yes, we can occasionally stoop to a joke about weight, or age, or what have you. There are occasional slap-fights. But we tend to do most of our posting with a smile on our face. We also tend to post because we are interested in what is being discussed. In this case, my interest was more related to what this site does when it discusses things like this.
I have no right to claim "we" as if "Him" represents anyone else other than myself on this site. But I certainly do appreciate what most all of "you" do here. And I most especially appreciate the forum Allyson created.
PS: Just so no one thinks I am a shrinking violet (esp. re: my Bennington comments). I can go dark really quick, and particularly love humor that really mines tragedy and steps over some lines that people don't like to cross. It is one of the reasons I so admire the tragedy in comics like Lenny Bruce or even Pete Davidson (not that the latter is anywhere close to the former). But it takes skill to pull it off. I know I have landed more than a couple of air farts here. I also know that I have occasionally launched a dud at the expense of posters here. When I aim low, I try to aim high (if that makes sense). And, when I don't, I own that. I don't take my anonymity as a free pass to just spout crap. It isn't a cover to be a jackass. I am glad that others don't treat it as such on BBG!
I also totally agree with you about the BBG community (which is why it's the first blog I read every morning, and have been doing so for years). There is definitely a wide mix of personalities here, but mud-slinging is uncommon, and the infantile, Blabbermouth-esque brand of trash talking is non-existent.
As for the topic at hand, I love Avenged Sevenfold and I'm bummed about this tour being cancelled - I had great tickets for their upcoming show in Toronto and have been looking forward to it for months.
So much for BBG! being virtually devoid of mudslinging.
