Slash Says Guns n' Roses Will Release New Music
"It's just, with Guns n' Roses, you don't go, 'Oh, there is a plan, and it's gonna be like this,' because that's not how it works. So, basically, the only real answer to give is we're hoping to put a new record out, and we'll just see what happens when it happens."
More of the story is on Blabbermouth. I will say if GnR does actually release new music, it might not be in album form. It will probably be a song at a time. It it will just be dropped on us via social media or something.

To your point, Allyson, they will probably release it a song at a time. Yet, it will be across all platforms including all the major ones, i.e. Apple Music, etc., simultaneously in the “fill-in-the-blank” format we’ve seen most acts use.
By that I mean, where the slot for the album iis in pre-order format with cover art, title, etc.,, and all the tracks showing just like an already available album but with the track list in gray with only the first single showing in black.
Then they’ll drop the next single a month after that followed by another in a month eventually releasing the whole album a month after that.
So, expect the first single to drop on Halloween, the second on Black Friday and the rest of the week before Christmas with the actual CD available three weeks prior including various deluxe packages such as the album in LP format, bonus live CD and DVD, both of the same show from the last tour, a poster and T-shirt featuring the new album cover art plus a replica backstage pass laminate, all for just $ 279.95
In other words, they’ll release the first single but in every possible way for the biggest impact as you know, given the quality of the music along with big promotion, it will be the #1 release on Apple Music the moment it’s available.
Hopefully, it will happen sooner, rather than later. Like I said, my guess is December 2020, just in time for Christmas, folks!
But I hedge my bets with Gary's accurate reference to breakfast foods that people love. So, yes, I am waffling (hopefully, not as Gary suggests). I could see this as being some sort of _A Different Kind of Truth_ affair, with rough cuts and leftovers and other things all added to the mix to make the bankers happy, Axl happy, and Slash's wee depleted checkbook happy. Thing is, I didn't mind ADKoT. I actually enjoyed it. And I thought that _Chinese Democracy_ was good in spots, in spite of it being a bloated ego-fest decades in the making. But that's the point: Slash and Co. are going to have to eat some pie to get this thing to a release in the near future.
Not in this lifetime? Nah. In this lifetime. It will make too many people money, I mean, happy. I think another band, currently trying to revive its credibility, once said: money talks. What walks . . . well, that's the thing, right? Heck, I think that band even knows Axl!
**eye roll**
Alright, I’ll bite, when did they lose it?
I think that some fans, myself included, felt that they whiffed on how they handled the situation with Brian Johnson. I think it was also clear that Williams checked, and then rechecked, how he explained his departure. These are matters of public record. That said, it now seems that they are both (alongside Rudd, who created his own problems, post-production of the last album) back in the good graces of AC/DC. You can spin that several different ways. But I still stand on the side of Williams and Johnson (while granting that Rudd just 'fits' behind the kit). I also understand that the loss of Mal was devastating. No question.
I also think (and you really just need to re-read my posts on AC/DC) that the band is a bit of an illusion. Most bands are, granted. But the veneer on AC/DC doesn't really seem to match the actual running of the band. And I say that as a fan. I say that as a person who has loved both eras of the band (I don't count Dave Evans or Axl for some hopefully obvious reasons). I also say that as a person who understands the Axl situation on two levels: a shrewd business decision, a thing that fans enjoyed, and a testament to Axl's love of good music (okay, so three).
It was great when we knew very little about the bands, save what the magazines sold to us. But now we know a bit more. There is a bit more that we can see behind the curtain these days. That said, I hope any new AC/DC music is good music. And I say that as someone who liked their last album for what it was.
I hope that helps explain my point, Forge. Let me know if you have other questions.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...
If there’s a band that once had musical integrity and has the chance to reclaim at least some semblance of it, it’s Guns n’ Roses.
Mark my words, Gn’R WILL slow roll out a new album within two years.
And, HIM, you didn’t see AXL/DC ... When I saw them live in Atlanta on that tour, it was absolutely stunning how phenomenal it was. I’m expecting another KILLER album from AC/DC, too! I just wish it was with AXL writing and recording with them instead of Johnson, who doesn’t compare.
I know what you and other “purists” are going to say but unless you saw AXL/DC, you probably just won’t get what I’m saying.
Yeah, you can watch the YouTubes but it’s quite a bit different than being there, the comparison like hearing the difference between going to a NASCAR race or watching it on ESPN.
When you’re watching live, the sound of the engines hit you right in the chest, whereas there’s just no comparison hearing that sound through a TV.
Hearing AXL belt out those AC/DC tunes the way he did with WAY more b*lls than he needs for the lighter Gn’R fare, with Angus able to retune his guitars back to the Bon Scott tuning for the first time in 30 years, was nothing short of phenomenal and nothing short of one of THE MOST amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life!
And, Metalboy!, you have it right: I never did see that version live. I actually believe it was a good show. Never said it wouldn't be (when it was announced) or wasn't (once admittedly varying quality video was released). My point, and it goes to my response to Forge, was that I have issues with how it was all handled (and even have some questions, implied in my post, about the new re-grouping of the band).
Do I have a right to that stance? Sure. You to your stance? Sure. But they aren't exactly the same points or positions, given that I would grant your point and still be able to hold mine. I question the integrity of a band that acts the way they did, even if I can somewhat understand the rationale(s) behind their decisions. But I am privy to nothing. So it remains, as most of this does, opinion.
