We Knew This Was Coming

The sales of RUSH songs are up 2000% after the death of drummer Neil Peart. This always seems to happen after the death of a music icon. I fully expect RUSH to be a top selling artist for all of 2020. Why? The increased mention of the band name reminds people of the back catalog. Some folks get nostalgic and go out and buy some albums to remember their "youth" and radio will actually pick up these older songs again. I wonder if there will be a RUSH surprise tribute at the Grammy awards next weekend?

It is a nice thought, though, that, amongst all those new purchases, there is some kid getting 'turned on' to solid music, great lyrics, and a band respected by so many. That, to me, _is_ a fitting tribute.
Judging from the acts nominated and performing, I would say they’re more like The Kiddie Awards!
Granted, are the judges out-of-touch because they don’t seem to give Metal and Rock & Roll proper credence? Yes!
Even though Rock & Roll and Metal still got short shrift, and they still need to refine the categories, they were actually much better than last year, especially Brain Carlisle’s show stopping, standing ovationed performance? Even the Rappers got up!
p.s. I know they will still be somewhat off giving credit where credit is due like The Oscars snubbing one of last year’s best films, “Uncut Gems”, it will still be entertaining, especially with Aerosmith most likely opening the show so the “Grannys” can time out at the end of their medley.
That is unless Rival Sons perform later in the show. And let’s not forget, one of your faves, GHOST, not only received a Grammy in 2016 and performed, so did Metallica and GaGa duet in 2017, though that turned into a technical fiasco, something I seriously doubt will ever happen again. Why? Because it happened.
So to call The Grammys “The Grannys” is really more of a cheap shot excuse to do a word play.
Knowing you, HIM, and your linguistic powers, I’m sure you can come up with a better description.
p.s. Peart, as appropriate, will more than likely be a footnote during the tribute portion of the show featuring those who passed in 2019.
That said, and this is also no amazing thing given my past posts, I just don't care too much about awards shows in general. They do nothing for me. So I am always biased when I write about them (notice that there was not one peep out of me these past few months about the RaRHoF?). I get it, though. The drama. The pageantry. The surprises. Ricky Gervais. Jethro Tull. Ghost won and Megadeth did too. It did nothing for me.
But, after getting spanked, let me throw in a bit of raw meat: Parasite deserves the AA for Best Picture. Why? I liked it (and I am really lobbing a ball here, given how many critical accolades Bong Joon-ho's movie has already received). That's why. My only complaint was all of those words running along the bottom of the screen. Made it hard to watch. Tried watching it without them, though, and that was darn near impossible!
And you also probably saw, GHOST’s last album, “Prequelle”, has also been nominated at this year’s Grammys. Would love to see them win, just so we could see that skeleton priest dude make a speech again.
p.s. Go see “Uncut Gems”! Sandler and everything else about this picture will astonish you!
And you know what? Say what you will about Ghost, but I would likely watch clips of Cardinal Copia if they won. Forge is a funny fellow, in interviews, on stage, and accepting awards. I'm just waiting to see who is next to ascend the throne, as the Cardinal's days are numbered! So, as Papa Nihil said way back in the 60s: Kiss the Go-Goat!!!
