SiriusXM Launches Temporary Van Halen Channel
Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 09:47AM
In honor of our lost guitar hero Eddie Van Halen, SiriusXM has created a special pop-up channel. The Van Halen Tribute Channel is available for a limited time on station number 27, Deep Tracks. There is no current end date for the special channel, but it won't be around forever, so be sure to check it out if you have a satellite radio subscription. I have been enjoying this channel a lot the past day or so.
There is a great interview below with Nuno Bettencourt and Eddie Trunk. Hearing the interview now is bittersweet, with Nuno talking about Eddie and his guitar prowess.

A friend reminded me of this interview with EVH, from the "What it Means to be an American" series by The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and Zócalo Public Square:

I believe it was from 2015. EVH is affable. He is humorous. He is even, dare I say it, gregarious. And the host does a great job of hosting, showing enthusiasm and letting him do his thing. I wish I could have seen this in person. It is a nice way to remember him, beyond his music.
I am sure many of you have already seen this. But, if not, it is worth a watch. Again, RIP EVH.
I'm loving the guest DJ's and their take on songs, but I would be remiss if I didn't rebuke Phill Collen when he intro'd "Jump", saying that he thinks that this is when Van Halen's songwriting ability started. Luv you Phil, but, you would be considered a Poser. Please play even more obscure Van Hagar songs.
Also, I apologise for all my typos in my EVH tribute below. My editor is on vacation in Cabo. However, it was pointed out to me that I neglected to add that I have two older brothers, not one. So, for fucking harmony sake...my older sister was into The Outsiders, my older brother was into Bruce, and my eldest brother wouldn't know a Robert Plant from a ficus. He was into sports. Correction, he was into Philadelphia sports: Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Sixers...in that order. He still walks into my rock room, shakes his head and says, "I just don't get it". And, he never will. Thank you Eddie.
The only drawback? You get floaters for several hours afterwards that look like Phil's nipples. Small price to pay, methinks.
Quick additional question: when they used to wear half-shirts back in the day, was that called a semi-Collen?
Of course, you DO realize your addressing the same person with your initial comments, bahahaha!!!
Come out, come out, wherever you are, boy(s)!!!
