David Ellefson Covers Post Malone

David Ellefson, best known for being the bassist of Megadeth, has just released a cover of the Post Malone track "Over Now. The song will also appear on Ellefson's upcoming and yet-to-be-named solo album.

You know, I am ambivalent about Post Malone. Famous rockers seem to love him. The twenty-somethings love him. I just do not care much either way. I think he is talented. Some of his songs are okay. There is just nothing there to set my world on fire. Not surprising, I prefer Ellefson's version of the track.

Is Post Malone the name he gave his bald spot?

Again, I kid. Ellefson seems like a good dude, doing good things. It's gotta' be tough being on a wage nowadays in Camp Mustaine. But he seems to handle it well (and admits he brought that upon himself). Nice to see that he continues to keep active.

My hope is that the next Deth album is as good as the last. The recent videos of their new drummer, Dirk Verbeuren, playing along to classics songs like "The Conjuring" are amazing (says the non-musician).

Ugh. Ellefson used to be much cooler before he turned lame ass. Huge old school Megadeth fan here, & it’s been a while since they released anything of substance, imho. He def needs to leave this song up to Post Malone, who I’ve been listening to for quite a while now. Get back to old school thrash, Dave jr.

Hey, Bkallday, quick question: did you not like Dystopia? Just curious what your take is on that album. I have loved pretty much all their output, even the Risk-ier/Collider stuff, though my attention did sag around _The World Needs A Hero_.

The last one of theirs that I thought had any real staying power, was probably The System Has Failed. Super Collider was an embarrassment not only to the band but even moreso to the entire thrash genre. It all started going downhill with Youthanasia & Risk, imho. Maybe this next one will be more inspired like the old material was, back when they were still angry & hungry. A fella can dream at least!

Appreciate the reply, Bkallday.

Yes, the eternal problem of keeping the fire going when you aren't young and hungry anymore (see: Metallica). And then there are fans like us, who aren't young and hungry anyone, wanting them to be!

Again, I appreciate your response (and your reply to Allyson's most recent post). Hope you managed to make the most of your MDW.
