Journey Cancels Tour, Offers Refunds
In the face of a global pandemic, Journey does the right thing. The band has canceled its summer tour, issuing this statement:
“There is no greater thrill for us than playing for our incredibly devoted audience, but their safety must come first. Having seen what the world has endured during the last 45 days, and not knowing what the rest of this year or 2021 will bring, we knew the right thing to do was to make sure our fans’ health was not put in jeopardy and to provide immediate access to refund options given the unexpected events caused by this terrible virus. We would like to thank all doctors, nurses, police, other first responders and essential workers for their heroic efforts; as well as our fans for doing everything possible to stay safe. We would also like to send The Pretenders our best wishes and hope to see them in the future. We will see everyone again as soon as it is safe to tour, and we will share that news as it becomes available. In the meantime, please Don’t Stop Believin’ in the wonder of life and in each other.
Journey’s tour partners at Live Nation will ensure ticket holders will be emailed directly with their refund options including a full refund, or you can request a 150% credit + Live Nation will donate the number of tickets you originally purchased to healthcare workers on the front lines. For more details, visit livenation.com/refund. Thank you for understanding."

@Allyson - Thanks for keeping the site running you are greatly appreciated!
Huh-uh-lo-oh, Motlëy Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett ... What are you waiting for?
Meanwhile, Steve Perry looked up from his piano and went: "What? Huh? Oh."
In other news, Bkallday is making it rain in Kentucky!!! Good for you, good Sir. I, like you (no, don't get upset, I am just saying), am doing pretty well right now. Others, as Allyson noted in her most recent post, aren't so lucky. Getting some money back in their pockets _does_ matter, even if they are fans of Journey these days. As I mentioned previously, being in our position is a blessing. Paying it forward--donating to something that benefits those who are doing worse than us--seems like the right thing to do. Agree?
Hope everyone is doing well. America is slowly opening again . . . let's hope those doors don't close, or at least open too quickly.
Yes HIM any $$ back in anyone's pockets is a huge boost for low spirits.
MB YESSSSSS the giants need to take action and follow suit with some great solution to refunds and offers to further allow them to capture attention and keep the momentum going until they can launch the tour. (huge run on sentence)
I also think that Journey has sorta' left the stage as a 'Bay Area' band (that is just me). They still nod to it. Sorta. But Schon and Co. don't really seem to garner the same interest as bands like Metallica do, in terms of their BA-cred. I suppose that is just the passing of the torch.
And I loved Journey. So I hear you. But Schon and (Twist of) Cain seem like control freaks, with agendas that don't really mix all that well (though the interest in glorifying themselves does actually work). I suspect that the coup was born of frustration at being bit players in a band that still garners decent draws. Wouldn't say that it was the smartest bet. But, then again, I am not in any band. At least Arnel seems humble and grateful for his luck, even respecting the legacy of Perry (not salivating over a reunion/side project like Schon did/does, while Arnel is still in the band). But I will give Schon this: those solo outings with Castronovo and Rollie were excellent. So maybe Schon isn't the problem? Who knows?
All I know is this: I don't need to see Journey ever again. Seen several versions. All well and good. I am gonna' stick to my memories going forward, unless they are part of a package with other bands I want to see.
Final note: glad you agree, Shawn. If you doing well (enough), help those that aren't. If you are doing really well, help those that support you. Now is not the time to horde your gold, while others are struggling to make hay.
