Download 2021 Cancelled

COVID-19 strikes again and Download 2021 is now officially cancelled. This seemed inevitable and it will be interesting to see how many more festivals fall in the coming weeks. I still do not see how The Stadium Tour happens - at least at full capacity - but time will tell. I do not regret taking my refund for those tickets during the window of opportunity.

No matter when it gets rescheduled for, although i hope its this summer, they need to get someone better than Joan Jett to open the show. What was her last relevant release???

Kiss in 2022 ? Guess that final, final tour is really, really long :)

As for the Stadium Tour - 110 days until Nashville and you can still buy tickets (see below). Be a logistical nightmare trying to make this into a limited capacity show at this point.

Be interesting to see those that held onto tickets and will never feel comfortable enough to go soon. Might see a flood of cheap secondary market tickets.

not a shock. the 10,000+ seat shows will be an albatross for a while still. i’m also glad i got my crüe seats refunded (plus it’s at a baseball stadium here in dallas and i bet the sound will suck).
while joan jett may not be a perfect fit to open, when’s the last time any of these bands released relevant music? i don’t see how the 4-5 band tour works these days anyway.

If ur trying to compare Joan Jett to the Crue & DL, I can’t help ya. 🤷🏻‍♂️

FWIW, Nikki just posted an answer to a fan's question with a very cryptic "Our concern is the [safety] of not only our fans but everybody involved in a tour. The bands, crew, etc. etc. As soon as we get the green light we're excited to get out and tour."

Look, we all see the writing on the wall: summer tours are not going to happen. I think fall/winter tours have a decent shot (no pun intended), maybe with some capacity restrictions. I don't like it either, but I think it's the reality we're living in.

So I think one more year of patience for summer tours/festivals, but I do hope I'm wrong. Let's just hope everybody is still around.

Steverox, stop posting logic!!! You are going to lose people with that.

Bkallday, I get your point about Jett (I got it when you first mentioned it months ago). But she still delivers. She is a good third or fourth slot performer. She has hit songs (even if some of those are not her songs originally). She is a win-win for the promoter and for those curious enough to show when most others are outside the stadium tailgating. I have seen her do this sort of thing on several occasions. As I said, she still brings it.

So I ask, respectfully: who would you want instead? I will go first, as I asked: The Lazys. Or Beastwars (I am sorta' kidding). How about Michael Monroe? Seriously, just asking.

If what you guys are saying is yours are going to be delayed, it’s still not 100% whether they will or they won’t, if you read the nothingness in between Sixx’s lines Steverox highlighted.

Better to err on the other side of “Neanderthal thinking” and wait ‘til Fall to tour.

However, in the off chance Neanderthal thinking prevails and major tours stick to their new and present Summer dates, I’m finally buying Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, Jett tickets, soon.

It would be great to see if there are deals in the secondary market GNR speaks of, but I gotta go POINT BLANK, as you know, and I’m prepared to pay the Randy Piper to get ‘em.

p.s. BK, we have our differences from time to time but often agree, but could ya stop slaggin’ on Joan Jett? ... While I agree with you, the promoters should have gotten a band more fitting for this line-up, say, Cinderella (that would have taken some doing), for example, there’s still no denying these bands wouldn’t have existed without The Runaways, her first band ... There’s a reason (and there should be two) why she’s got in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before Def Leppard and the other acts still are not ... She defines Rock & Roll more than they do!

That was a lovely WASP reference, Metalboy! Glad to have you back (as I hope you can tell).

Thing is, Randy is famous for _not_ paying the piper. But that just made me laugh even harder!!!
