Live Nation Updates Concert Entry Policies

It seems things are moving faster now: Live Nation and AEG have both updated their policies, requiring proof of vaccination (or negative COVID-19 test) for entry into concerts and festivals. Friday, Live Nation announced they would let their touring musicians decide on protocols. That decision was changed today to a blanket mandate. For Live Nation, the change goes into effect October 4.

It will be interesting to see if smaller, non-corporate venues go the same way. I think the Live Nation and AEG decisions were inevitable. Every day now, it seems someone attached to a current tour tests positive for COVID, thus derailing shows. That has a real financial impact for everyone involved. Big time musicians like Metallica and Iron Maiden can afford the cancellations and delays. Smaller bands - and especially the folks that make shows happen like audio techs and roadies - cannot.

A negative Covid Test as proof is reasonable!

Vaccinated, negative test, or proof of recovery is going to be the standard everywhere for the next few years.

My (slight) concern as a European is how will this work internationally? There is no standard international covid vaccination certificate. Guess I will be tested a lot if I am in the US for shows and vice versa.

There should be a COVID Passport with different levels of clearance - Vaccinated, Double Vaccinated, Boostered and Covid Tested.

The passport could be digitally updated depending on registrants’ progress in getting vaccine protected.

Failure to comply with the passport requirements to actively pursue testing and vaccination would result in incarceration.

Agree Steverox, this is going to be standard for a few years now. I was thinking just the reverse of you: what if I want to go to a show when I travel to Europe? I am planning a large trip in fall 2022. I am still hoping for something available via an app but crossing country borders makes things more tricky for sure.

Atleast Live Nation is being reasonable. Proof of a negative test is sufficient. Rokisland has No restrictions. If they want a negative test for entry I’m sure people would understand. It’s about choice. That’s what America is about. ✌🏿 and ❤️

“… where permitted by law” - it will be interesting to see how this goes considering each state has the ability to set it’s own rules. i know here in TX several counties are suing the governor over his policies on this. just this week jason isbell canceled a show in houston because the venue wouldn’t comply and check vaccination. then he played ft. worth the next day. going to be a beating on the bands and venues and world. but it’s something at least.
