Nickelback Writes A Love Letter To 80s Nostalgia

Well, shit guys. I'm not crying, you're crying!

Nickelback's newest song "Those Days" just came out, complete with a lyric video. The entire package is a melodic love-letter to the 80s. The song is on the upcoming album Get Rollin.' At first, I thought "Those Days" was cheesy and then I gave it a little more time and I quickly fell in love. I couldn't help but get a goofy grin on my face and I loved catching all the 80s references in the video. I think you will find it fun, too. Punch play and give it a listen.

Oh my. oh my, long-time readers. I find myself caught in a vortex: this sounds like a more full-throated (and a touch more poppy and mechanical-sounding) Steel Panther original. Oh, and without the **** and ******, and, you know, the ******-****** references!

It is obvious that I like SP (with some huge caveats re: their recent output). It is also apparent that I 'get' Nickelback, even if I don't really like them. What is a random metal fan to do?

My initial answer? Nod, with a grimace, and then slowly walk backwards toward the door, gently open it, step out, and then close it with barely a sound of the lock and bolt clicking in union. That's all I got. Rare that I don't have a well-placed zinger, an over-tuned defense, or whatnot.

But at least I mentioned ***** on BBG! Hope Allyson doesn't ban me . . . cuz, you know, some people on here think she is always on the edge of doing so.

Agree Ally. An easy 3 minute watch with smirks included. But. I remember those days. Don’t need Nickelback cheese in my life cuz those days included plenty of cheese. I was that person (13 yo) walking ‘round town with my big uh box (wink) cranking Pyromania. Now I’m not. Love the Mötorhead font though.

Ya know, I've honestly never given Nickelback a thought. I wouldn't even have been able to name one single song of theirs over the years. This one, meh. Yeah, it hits the nostalgia button, but that's about it. As Kixchix said, I don't really need Nickelback to help me with that. But I have to say I do kinda like their other new one that's been getting a lot of airplay on Octane. I don't have much to say about the video (had never seen it before), but I like the song.

No... just NO !!! Nickelback's downfall is and always will be cheese and ballad. They have enough "slow" or "nostalgia" songs already in their catalog. Stick to ROCK, straight up in your face ROCK !
