This Is Not A Drill: Metallica Announce New Song, Album, Tour

Finally new Metallica music is coming! Earlier today the band announced 72 Seasons. The album will come out April 14, 2023. A big world tour is happening too, with some good support bands including my beloved Ice Nine Kills on some shows. (You have to match the tour date with the band list to figure out the show openers).

Best news of all? The band also dropped the new track "Lux Æterna" and a video to boot. The track is on the upcoming new album. The video for "Lux Æterna" is at the bottom of the post. If you want tour tickets - the shows go into 2024 and the on sale date is soon. And yeah, it's via Live Nation (Ticketmaster).

I am going to double check to be sure, but I believe Lux Æterna is Latin for "autotune." That, or "quantized" if we're talking about the drums.

3 1/2 minute kick ass tune. Turn it up to 11 !

Don't care about whatever production methods are used.

Latin for "eternal light"

Eternal it is not. Good enough it is. Yoda?

That said, I wish they could find someone who could make them sound a bit more like they did back in the 80s, A bit less sterile. A bit more bass (not a joke). A bit more 'full' (!?!?!). This sounds like Cheez-Whiz 'Tallica, even if I sorta' 'get' the song.

Do I like it? It is okay for what they are doing now. But am I going to pay to listen to it at home? Or see it live? Nope.
