Sunday's Best: Week 50, 2022

Last week felt like a year for me. I working remotely from Las Vegas while Eric attended a conference. I'm over Vegas anyway and add in working on eastern time while being three hours behind plus Aerosmith being canceled and it ended up one dud of a trip.

Thankfully we are home and catching up on rest. Plus my Bengals won today in an odd game. Even the vibe inside the stadium was bizarre. People were crabby and that is not common! I'll chalk it up to holiday stress.

By this point, I'm pretty used to all the music that is played during games but today a new track made the cut. Eric and I both looked at each other with huge eyes when it came on. All of a sudden "Stand Up" was playing. I wonder how many people knew it was Steel Dragon? Well, Jeff Scott Soto anyway. Appreciating the awesome song - in an unexpected place - is our Sunday's Best for this week. I really need to rewatch Rockstar. Such a good, goofy movie.

You can take Zakk out, but you can't take those pinch harmonics anywhere!!!! Hahaha. There are some good songs on that album, even if the movie--at least to me--hasn't aged well. That said, I still love the look of those guys in the band. Young(er). The future in front of them. The connection to Priest and Ripper so tangentially strung together with threads of nothingness.

To me, this one always sounded like a nod to Lynch Mob, with, well Zakk playing guitar (and I say that a a person who actually loves a lot of Zakk's work). And at least Soto is more consistent/reliable than Logan. Then again, Soto's career is a bit of a mystery to me. He _should_ have landed bigger. Why didn't he? Too many projects? That can't be it, as that became a necessity once he didn't land big. My thought? Attaching himself, earlier on, to projects that involved difficult/unreliable leads/principals. I think he inadvertently got that Yngwie/Schon stank on him!!! Sorta' like accidentally stepping on a skunk.

If I were a baseball player this would absolutely be my walkup tune.

Texjay, take the movie's premise and make it a reality!!!! I mean, it is baked into the DNA of this twaddle of a film.

You can do it, Texjay! I know you can. On the other hand, maybe you can't. As a famous philosopher once said, a man's got to know his limitations.

Cue "The More You Know" images and music . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GD6qtc2_AQA
