Sunday's Best: Week 5, 2022

Yesterday's post about Eddie Vedder vs. Nikki Sixx got me thinking about all the awesome albums that came out in 1991. Yes, Pearl Jam's Ten came out in 1991 and as I said, I did enjoy it. Still, there were way more albums released in 1991 that I loved more - and still do! - to this day.

Sunday's Best this week looks at some of the awesome albums released in 1991. Did I leave off one of your favorites? There were gobs more great albums that came out in 1991. A truly great year for music.

Skid Row - Slave To The Grind.

Metallica - Metallica

Tesla - Psychotic Supper

Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears

Kix - Hotwire

Guns n' Roses - Use Your Illusion

Van Halen - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

David Lee Roth's best solo output, A Little Ain't Enough.

His first two were overrated. 1994's Your Filthy Little Mouth is a close second.

I saw something like this on Tik Tok and it was like Nirvana - Nevermind, Pearl Jam - Ten, Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger, Primus - Sailing The Seas of Cheese, Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik all in 1991

All these juggernauts of changing the music scene vs. the likes listed here that were more glam. It's like you can see that 1991 was when it all changed.

Summer 91 was an incredible time! Slave to the Grind came out in June, the Black Album came out in August, and Use Your Illusion in September. Each of those bands are among my all-time favorites, and I was probably at the height of my fandom that year.

As an aside, the first class I ever skipped at university was in order to line up at HMV for Illusion Good times!

Pearl Jam a juggernaut?!?! Lmao surely you jest, GNR? One of the lamest, most boring bands of all time. That shit is hilarious, I don’t care who ya are!!! You may need to change your name to PJ?

BK - you can use the word juggernaut when you don't even like the music or the band. Pearl Jam is a juggernaut. Plain and simple. Don't believe me ? Click on this "fact sheet" of their albums. Not to mention always a top grossing concert act of the year when they tour. They sell out fast. Like it or not they are a juggernaut.

Now can PJ hold a candle to GNR ? please...

No love for Mr. Big's Lean Into It, huh? I'll fly the flag, even if it's not my favorite out of the albums mentioned here. But "Green Tinted Sixties Mind" is a phenomenal song, and I listen to this record a lot.

Speaking of Badlands and Voodoo Highway ... I was today years old when I discovered Dino Jelusick and his killer pipes. Here he is covering "Last Time."
