An Actual All-Glam Festival Is Happening This Summer

There's no mish-mash of styles here! Masquerade 2022 is all glam, all the time. The three-day festival is scheduled for July 28, 29, 30 in Philadelphia, PA at 2300 Arena. Some of the bands set to perform are Autograph, Killer Dwarfs, Pretty Boy Floyd, Hurricane, Steven Adler, Babylon Shakes and loads more. Another cool thing about this event is that dressing up is encouraged... hence the name of the event!

A drawback is that ticket prices seem high. The 3-day VIP is nearly $800 for a pair. Of course, everything is expensive now so maybe that's just average. You do have to wonder when music fans will say enough is enough and stop paying egregious prices to get into shows. At least this is a ton of bands over three days. There are plenty of shows going for $800 a pair for one band on one night. Insanity!

$400 a head for that lineup? Delusional

yeah that one is a bit pricey: $100 a day for GA; $375 for 3-day vip; or $550 for 3-day balls out vip. but days 2-3 would be fun.

I'm going and looking forward to it. Actually, it's $175 for 3 day GA,, so only about $60/day after fees. This is being put on by promoter extraordinaire Brad Lee @ Brad Lee Entertainment. He deserves to have Masquerade be a successful festival as this festival was originally scheduled for 2020, but then (well you know) Covid. It was originally supposed to be in Maryland near the M3 festival, but over the last two years, it got postponed a few times, some lineup changes and obviously venue changes. Brad Lee has worked tirelessly to [finally] get this up and running and the venue changed from Maryland to Philly. I'm originally from Philadelphia (subarbs actually), so I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of my old stomping grounds. I'm going with a "kid" I used to mentor back in the 90's. I've talked about him before on here, so I won't repeat all the details of how we reconnected, just glad that we did (one good thing about Facebook, actually). He wants Philly pizza (specifically on famed South Street) and he wants a good cheese steak. I know, I know Pat's vs Geno's, perhaps Tony Luc's or John's Roast Pork?. I prefer hoagies aka submarine sandwiches, Heroes, torpedoes or grinders in other parts of the Country. I know 'em as hoagies...and water is pronounced "wooder" and a creek is a "crick", where we sat by and smoked Marlboros as teenagers. Thank goodness, I dropped that habit years ago; 12/31/97 to be exact. I digress.

I'm looking forward to this festival finally happening and those who have been following it on social media since 2020 know how hard Brad Lee worked to get it to survive. Now, let's make it thrive.

What's crazy is Steve Summer's charging people to meet him.

Hope you have fun, Fletch. Report back. And you forgot another dialect thing: "wolf" is "wuff." Those derivations actually extend across the country. And I'm glad you dropped the coffin nails. I just picked them up for you. So it a circle of life (and death).

That said, this still seems a bit pricey for some bands that are barely hanging on. I mean, who is in Autograph now that Rand is gone (RIP)? And I would pay money not to meet Summers. But Babylon Shakes are an awesome newer band. Their _Vintage Soul_ release is a step in the right direction, even if it is a bit less glam than previous things.

I hope these sorts of events survive. And I hope those that go enjoy themselves. I'd probably take a dive if it were closer to my neck of the wood. But it isn't. So I won't. Bummer that I live in a place where jam bands thrive. I mean, it is hard to get to sleep in my tent!
