A Great, Lazy Summer Day Song

I've just been lounging around and ignoring the fact that I need to vacuum basically every floor in the house. I started thinking about underrated summer songs and then I realized Aerosmith has a big one! Their track "Girls of Summer" really does hit with that warm weather, party vibe.

"The Girls of Summer" came out in 2002 as a new track to promote O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits. My parents gave me the CD for Christmas that year. Eric and I got married in early December of that year, so getting the album was a way to bridge my younger days with my new, full-on adult life. I can't believe the song is 20 years old. Then again, I can't believe I'll be celebrating that many years of marriage soon, too!

Great video. Never seen it. Barely know the song as well. My summer songs although not chill are Summertime Girls (Y&T) and In & Out of Love by BJ. To chill I chill. Jack Johnson is a fav. His early music has the ability to make me stoned without the weed.

Okay, so it ain’t Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer”, an instant classic head and shoulders above this, both aurally and visually, though it ain’t bad, especially video-wise, what with eye candy like Naomi Campbell dead ringer, Nichole Galicia, along with Kim Smith and none other than Jaime Pressly (of “My Name is Earl” fame), front and center!

My Summer faves run the gambit from my absolute fave, Type O Negative’s cover of Seals and Croft’s “Summer Breeze” to “A Summer Place” by Percy Faith and his Orchestra, and this is a welcome addition to my Summer Playlist, even if it ain’t anything close to The Who’s rendition of “Summertime Blues” or Zeppelin’s “White Summer”, the latter of which ain’t really nuthin’ to write home about either!
