What A Glam Fest! HRH Sleaze Bands Announced

Ah to live in or around Sheffield, England. Next August, HRH Sleaze returns with a great glam lineup! Yes, Crashdiet will headline along with The Cruel Intentions, Jet Boy and Sister. There's a whole slew of other great European glam bands on the bill, too. Tickets are on sale now and a full weekend pass is cheap at £55. The festival venue is at the 02 Academy right in Sheffield.

WTH?! … Ted Poley as the headliner? … Look, I love the boy … Partied with him at a Labor Day, 1989 (Geezus!) as well as saw him perform and had a fun conversation with him on MORC several years ago … but Crashdīet should clearly be at the top of bill here.

If it was Danger Danger headlining, it might be a different story … Still, no question, the boy (Why do I keep calling him, “boy”? … The man is more than likely in his late 50’s) has a helluva voice (if he’s still got it), so I can sort of understand the rationale for him being on top.

Also, I did notice quite a change in the boy’s (Why stop now!) appearance from 1989 when he was dressed in white, riding a Harley with a hot brunette on the back, to a far cry from that with what appears to be a fashion trend he created a number of years ago (which obviously hasn’t quite caught on) of what could only be termed “Early 80’s Caveman” … This is because he has taken to wearing the same Wrangler vest (with the white faux wool lapels) for the last 20 years or so, apparently his answer to Cobain’s old ragged-out cardigan sweater …

Hey, look at it this way … He doesn’t have to put it on when he kickin’ it in his Post Prehistoric styled Mancave! … All unfair, low blow knocks aside, I do think he has / had a great voice, enough to make the other members think twice about releasing one of their albums with a different singer (Paul Laine), eventually deciding to stick with the original Poley version …

For more dancing on the head of a pin, pick-up their album, “Cockroach”, which contains both versions to see if you can decide who’s better … (A special shout-out to Kenny O, who turned me onto “Cockroach” right on these very pages in Comments on BBG!).

A masterful return to form, Metalboy! Always glad to hear from you. Wish you posted more.

Old 'Boy' Poley is 58,

Haven't listened to _Cockroach_, though I will now. Seems like Ravel and West were the brains behind the danger . . . danger, though Poley is the one to get the fans feeling naughty . . . naughty.
