'Tuff Enuff' - The Fabulous Thunderbirds

Driving to get my daily iced latte, "Tuff Enuff" by The Fabulous Thunderbirds popped on Classic Rewind (SiriusXM).

"Tuff Enuff" is one of those songs I've always sort of known but never really researched much. In fact, I had no idea the band behind the track was even named The Fabulous Thunderbirds. I've never owned any of their albums nor have I seen them. Researching them a little I learned they are a blues band that formed in the 70s and have had a slew of member changes. Also, the band is still touring and will apparently be in Ohio Friday night. I guess I'm just late to this party. "Tuff Enuff" is a pretty groovy track. The video is classic 80s gold.

being from TX, i take knowing about the fabulous thunderbirds for granted. the band has so many ties to the TX music scene that they often come up down here. but catching them live these days is almost like a tribute band, though kim willson still has a strong voice and the charisma to hold your attention. i’m not sure what keeps jimmie vaughan from reuniting, but he’ll play a few FT songs at his live shows - but not this one.

I have this record, just listened to it last week. “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up” were the singles.

"Wrap It Up" ... one of the many glorious 1960s R&B songs co-written by Isaac Hayes, along with "Soul Man," "I Thank You," and most of the songs on my Best Of Sam & Dave LP.
