'Wings of Steel' Has A True 80s Sound

"Wings of Steel" - the debut video from the band of the same name - is a classic throwback track if I ever heard one. Actually, it is crazy to me that Wings of Steel is a new band. The group formed in 2019 in Los Angeles and released an EP with five songs. One of those tracks is "Wings of Steel" which just became the band's first video, too.

A full-length debut album is also coming soon. The band is making their Whisky A Go-Go debut in a couple days. Check them out!

Hi, That guy. Welcome to the site. I don't recall you posting before (if I am wrong, my apologies). Why don't you post more? Just curious.

But . . . reincarnated Priest? I guess the names The Sentinel and Painkiller were taken.

No doubt, Leo has some pipes on him. And now that he had three new members on board, I hope it is a roaring success. Still, it is not (as they suggest) a 'unique sound'. As That guy opines, it is a bit of Priest (well, a lot of Priest) coupled with Leo's impressive screams and his less- Priest/Halford/Ripper-like (though still engaging) vocal musings. Oh, and the very Priest-like guitars (and drums, and pacing, save for that middle interlude where they break it down in an interesting way that I am still trying to figure out if I dig or not).

To those who might slag on me for saying all that, I did buy the EP. So there's that too.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Allyson. And, That guy, be _the_ guy who posts more. Add to the bounty that is BBG! Tell us if you miss KK. Tell us if you think that Priest is running on fumes. If you think that it is a shame they can't sell out major events like Maiden can. You know, get in there and dirty it up a bit. I mean, I'm just Him. You are That guy. I expect to hear more from you soon.

Sad WINGS of Destiny....British STEEL? I see a definite nod to NWOBH and the Mighty Priest here, but to me they sound more like early Queensryche, (which is a good thing). More so, a lesser-known Finish band, Machine Men which started off as a Maiden tribute but ended up putting out a few great records, I dig it!

Machine Men, eh Jeff? I will have to look them up. I love to finnish what others have started. Giggle.

Actually, hold on a sec.

Just listened to "Falling." Can certainly--most certainly--hear their Maiden cover roots. Also listened to "Circus of Fools." A bit of a departure (with an almost "Caught in a Mosh" through-line). Would have been interesting to see what they would have done if they hadn't sputtered out. I think I will seek out more of their stuff. Thanks, Jeff!
