Skid Row's New Track 'Time Bomb' Is Catchy

I have to give Skid Row credit: their new music is solid. It doesn't sound like the old days exactly, but it is good for sure. "Time Bomb" is the latest Skid Row single from the upcoming album The Gang's All Here, due October 14. An official video for "Time Bomb" is coming next week.

I like the chorus - it is snappy. A good foot-tapper.

Yuck. Couldn't get any more generic. This has never and will never be Skid Row without Bach. Oh yeah, the new lead singer blows and doesn't even look like he belongs.

Ugh, couldn't get anymore generic. This will never ever be Skid Row without Bach! Not to mention the lead singer doesn't fit and sucks as a singer!

The world has flipped upside down. Bkallday and I agree on something. That's not true. We actually agree on a lot of things. Side note: I personally prefer the 'ugh' in the second post over the 'yuck' in the first. It captures a mood.

I would phrase it differently though. I would phrase it differently though. TEST. TEST. Is this thing on?

This doesn't sound like Skid Row at all, and I am counting the Sollinger and Qbert (I think that was his name) years as well. It's solid, I guess, if you want a cookie-cutter sounding metal song. Sure the guy has a great voice. Sure he ditched the Oliver Twist cap. Sure he is still figuring out what to do on stage. Sure.

And I get that this is me (and others) facing a rather obvious dilemma: the Bach ship has sailed and, even then, having Bach back (I feel like I just stuttered) wouldn't guarantee anything . . . other than stupid hissy fits by grown _men_.

Notice that was plural. Because, as I have said before, I think the guys leading SR these days are also part of the overall problem with the band, the optics, and the bad blood. And their treatment of other past singers (see above) hasn't really made them look like upstanding lads. Has Sab done himself any favors? Nope. But I think that they are all a bunch of dysfunctional fellows who lie to themselves when they hug their pillows at night. And, if they are good with that, who am I to complain? It is their legacy, their lives, their decisions . . . all of them.

But, like my friend Bkallday, I can call SR out--and, yes, by extension, some of their fans--for being so delusional as to think that this new singer has really given them a shot in the arm. Well, yes and no. They do sound energetically generic. But they are also miles away (sorry, Kip) from anything that sounds discernibly like their glory days. And that really has nothing to do with Sab, when you think about it. It has to do with SR. And, to be clear, I am not expecting "Monkey Business" at this point in their career. Maybe "Monkey Food Cart." Hell, even "Monkey Instacart" would probably do it for me.

Hope you are doing well, Bkallday. Hell, I hope all of you BBG! readers (more of those than writers these days!) are doing great.
