Farewell Steve Riley

Steve Riley, best known as the drummer for L.A. Guns, has died. He had pneumonia and passed away yesterday at age 67. This news is shocking to me and it is such a shame that Riley never patched things up with Tracii Guns or Phil Lewis. Just really sad.

is it just me who's mildly disappointed that him hasn't commented

RIP. Pretty young for pneumonia to cause his death. Always had an anorexic vampire look and may have been a smoker. Rock on folks. Time is limited

RIP to one of the real, original Hollywood Vampires. Long live the great tunes(esp inside the electric and cocked & loaded albums) he made with WASP & LA Guns. 2 amazing bands. 🤘🏼

So sad to hear the news of Steve Riley’s passing … Despite his ugly falling out with the original L.A. Guns, I do like some of the music he did with his spin-off along with Kelly Nickles … I did have a chance to meet him face to face on MORC far from the madding crowd in a hallway of the ship en route to one of the shows … He was in front of me walking the ballroom where the show was taking place with his girlfriend …

I yelled out, “Steve Riley!” … He stopped and turned around, giving me a WTF look (as anyone would including myself) … But I ran up to him to tell him, “I just watched you in the WASP video for ‘Wild Child’ and you are a total bada*s!”, as ignoramous me had no idea he was in that band! … I also told him all the L.A. Guns shows I saw over the years … He reached out his hand and grabbed me into a hug and said, “Thanks, man!”

I saw L.A. Guns 7 times with Steve including at The Country Club in L.A. in 1987 plus twice at Network in Pasadena, MD in ‘88, once in ‘89 at The Ritz in NYC and subsequently, twice on MORC and he never ceased to amaze!

RIP, Steve … God Bless and Godspeed, you BADA*S! … We truly lost one of the greats!

In my post above, I incorrectly identified his companion in my recounting of meeting him … He was with his wife … NOT his girlfriend.

RIP Steve Riley, BADA*S Extraordinaire!

I agree mb, I also thought his new material with Nickels, was just as good as what Phil & Traci’s version is releasing these days.

Thanks, Fletch (I guess).

Reading these days. Not commenting. Kinda' lost interest. Kinda' hoped others would do well (and better) by this site by posting. Still read this site most every day. Just want this to be a place for others, and not me, these days to share their POV.

That said, there are things in the pipeline. They will be posted soon. Just not comments on specific posts. At least for now.

All my best to all of you. Great to see more comments these days.

Take care everyone.
