New Motley Crue Music Is Coming

A couple days ago, Nikki Sixx confirmed that he is working on new music with the rest of Motley Crue - and we will get new tracks in 2024. It isn't exactly clear if the band will be releasing a full album or just a few tracks here and there. Regardless I am ready for it!

I don’t think Sixx is being honest here when he says he is working on new music “with the rest of Mötley Crüe”… their guitar player is promoting a solo album, and seemingly not on speaking terms with the rest of that band. Sad state of affairs.

Well, Mick is no longer in the band. And like you said, he is promoting his solo album, which has sold 32 copies at last check.

Micks solo album has actually sold zero copies… because it’s not been released yet. Nice try though.

Well when it does we will compare album sales to average Crüe album sales? Then we can compare tour numbers to the Crüe. How’s that sound for ya? Sounds exquisite to me!

Considering the "Average Crue album" sales metric would have been recorded when the music industry was in a very different place, and that Crue were a scrappy young band with alot of heat behind them when they released their best known material; no I don't think it's a fair comparison.

How many albums '58, Brides Of Destruction, Sixx Am, Methods Of Mayhem, Vince Neil or Andro sell in comparison to any Crue album? The brand will almost always outsell the side project (unless you are the singer of Matchbox 20).

If we are talking about the quality of music, I'm personally digging the two Mick songs alot more than Crue covering Beastie Boys and Madonna; the "new" songs on Dirt soundtrack were also forgettable at best, and they were all written by Sixx & John 5, so there is a taste of the "insane" new Crue songs right there.

I'll call this, "Mike with with the Mike drop".

Fletch, you're clueless first of all. I mean you're a Trumper for fuck's sake. Mic drop #1.

Mikey, i don't remember anyone trying to hype those albums on this site, like you're trying to with Mick's weakass "music". Now if you want to ask which is better, that noise Mick dropped or Sixx AM, Methods of Mayhem, or Vince Neil Exposed, i'm pretty sure they would all say they're all much better than Mick's garbage. But only if you ask non haters. I get it, Motley is way too edgy for ya, maybe you should stick to wimpy bands like dirty honey, taylor swift, or maybe even steel panther. But quick, show me where Nikki, Tommy, or Vince touched ya!!! Mic drop #2.

Hi BK,

I don't recall trying to "Hype" Mick's music all over this site, although I did mention enjoying it more than Crue's most recent output the one time I have ever discussed the topic on here.

Can I ask why you are so anti-Mick? I mean, as a Crue fan wouldn't you be at least interested in hearing what he has come up with before dismissing it as "garbage"?

If Methods Of Mayhem, '58, Vince Neil, or Brides Of Destruction were never "hyped" as new releases on this site, it's because all of those albums predate BBG. I know SIXX:AM have gotten alot of love on here over the years.

But still I am dumbfounded by your hatred towards Mick? I mean, he is the friggin' guitar player from MOTLEY CRUE, and it's not like he let himself become a fat alcoholic slob who is too lazy to practice and has ruined every one of Crue's shows since 1999...

Are you seriously railing on the Crue because they may still party too hard for your tastes? Why am i not surprised to hear that? Also, should i like mick more because he hasn't gotten fat like Vince? Seriously, on both of those points?

But i'll answer your question. First of all, Mick has been a robot for years, he is basically invisible when it comes to actually interacting with the fans, and he although he can't help it, he may as well be a road sign up there on stage. Imo it's been time for him to pull the plug on his career for a while. Also, I am of the opinion that he didn't want to tour anymore so basically the Crue took that news and called an audible, because they're still interested in touring heavily, whether it's nostalgia or not. To the money meister Sixx, money is all it's about, sadly.

Also sadly, in 2023 even before all this happened, it was cool to rag on the Crue, except for Mick of course, mainly because he's such a social pariah, and never in the spotlight. So obviously when all this went down, everyone wanted to blame the other 3, especially when Mick started running his mouth about the rest of the band, when they have put up with his illnesses and many issues, for all this time now. I've never been one to join the crowd so instead of becoming a Mick diehard, I chose the 3 guys that were still in the band. Others chose Mick, which is fine. But there's always 2 sides to every story and I happen to believe Nikki, Tommy, and Vince(regardless of how much of a fatass he may be). Now if Mick hadn't taken the route he did where he bashed the guys that carried him for years(and yes they did), maybe I would've just stayed neutral. But that's not how it went down so i just chose my side!.

If it sounds like I'm "railing on the Crue", it's probably because this once great band who retired in 2015 (and made a huge deal of it, incessantly smack-talking KISS and every other band who went back on their retirement)... came out of retirement, and resumed putting on awful shows, which they have doing since Greatest Hits tour in 98/99.

* When I say "awful", I'm not talking about production (pyro, roller coasters, etc).

I'd rather have seen them try and maintain some integrity by leaving the band dormant. Their recent performances, and "The Dirt EP" have not done anything to enhance their legacy at all, quite the opposite from my perspective.

However if Crue were going to replace a member and carry on, the Guitar player was not the weak link who needed to be swapped out.

Hard partying worked for them in 1988, but 35 years later we have a 62-year drunk front man who cannot sing or move at the standard of a stadium band. It's pathetic and I challenge you to change my mind.... go watch a recent Michael Monroe performance; he is the same age, kicks ass live, and continues to make good records, THAT is the a legacy artist I will continue to support.

Getting back to YOUR issues with Mick, you realize that you don't have to choose, don't you? Just because they are in litigation doesn't mean that you have to get involved. Mick's album isn't out yet and you are calling it "garbage" because you feel like you need to choose a side (that's my take from reading your comments).

I bought Vince Neil exposed AND Motley Crue S/T as new releases in 93/94. While the Crue album is better than Vince's (by far); that doesn't automatically mean Vince's album sucked (it didn't).

Mick is trying something new, and I will always take interest in an artist pushing themselves into new territory... FWIW I thought Nikki's 58 album was brilliant as well, even though that thing only sold 32 copies.

To further illustrate to my point re: Michael Monroe

... in each of the clips below (both filmed in June 2022), notice the singer's pitch, timing, appearance, ability to move, and overall enthusiasm.

One band opens their set tearing through their newest single, the other uses backing tapes and can still barely keep it together for a 35-year old song:

Motley Crue - Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL | 18 JUN 2022
https://youtu.be/7sdIYeTvdv0?si=TkQBS7wrturOz_jy&t=174

Michael Monroe - Rock Hard Festival, Gelsenkirchen, Germany | 03 JUN 2022

Swapping out Mick Mars for John 5 (who is an incredible talent) cannot fix the Crue, and I feel bad for anyone who pays to see them expecting a kick ass rock show.

So you really have all this hate for them, simply due to them saying they were gonna retire and then they didn’t? Do you also have that same hate for bands like Kiss, Ozzy, and others who have been doing this yearly? Also, that dirt ep was dropped to go along with their Dirt movie, which absolutely crushed & brought them thousands of new fans(yes it did). I’m sure u hated it cuz it was too raunchy for ya(or maybe u hated it cuz it wasn’t 1000% all true, like all other “movies” ever made) but plenty of others loved it and the new songs that were dropped with it. And the ensuing stadium tour they went on also completely crushes any irrelevant comments of the band, that you or others may try to make. It’s comical how you haven’t heard any of his new songs yet you act like I haven’t, as well. But we can certainly agree to disagree. Keep that same energy with Mick & I’ll keep this same energy with the Crüe & let’s both live long enough to see who’s on top of the other, 5 yrs from now! I’ve got my creeping suspicions. Lol
