KIX Names Matt Starr As Temporary Drummer

KIX drummer Jimmy Chalfant continues to recover from heart issues. He collapsed on stage back in November and was saved by bass player Mark Schenker via CPR. Jimmy had heart issues before that incident as well.

Last night, Jimmy explaining that his recovery is taking longer than expected and the band will continue with all booked shows as planned. KIX has named Matt Starr as a temporary drummer while Jimmy continues to rehab. This includes on the Monsters of Rock Cruise at the end of next month.

Matt Starr has played with lots of acts including Mr. Big and Joe Lynn Turner. He is an accomplished session musician, too. Glad to see KIX will continue on with their shows. I hope Jimmy gets well soon.

May KIX keep ROCKIN’ even without my hero and friend, the legendary Ronnie “10/10” Younkins and Jimmy Chalfant … And, of course, Donnie Purnell, the original bass player who wrote the majority of all the classic stuff, but now a recluse somewhere in Florida.

Wish I could be on that cruise, but barring winning the lottery, I got too many side hustles going to break away …

Hopefully some of the karakters on here can make it as there are so many great bands to see besides the mighty KIX, such as:

SAXON (oh, how I wish I could see them play their metalized cover of TOTO’s “Hold The Line”), ROSE TATTOO, MICHAEL SCHENKER, LOUDNESS, TORA TORA, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, FASTER PUSSYCAT, WIG WAM, SHIRAZ LANE and RECKLESS LOVE!
