'Separate Ways (World's Apart)' -- New Cover

In early January, Daughtry and Lzzy Hale teamed up for an awesome cover of the Journey classic "Separate Ways (World's Apart)." The cover was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic tune.

Chris Daughtry is a criminally underrated singer and I really enjoyed his performance on this track. This is such a fun cover and I added it to my running playlist.

Love this. Their voices meld so well together. It's also great to hear Daughtry on more of a rock song than the pop songs he's been putting out. His voice is better suited for rock/metal. What else can you say about Izzy, the lady is just awesome!

Agree, Jeff. Their voices do work well together. Nice to see that sort of chemistry. Clearly, they both like/love the song. They are trying to, and doing, justice to the song.

But I am having trouble with the gauzy keyboards, sounding as if they were played in a light rain made by a robot with a sequencer set on low-stun! And it seems to 'fuzz up' the background throughout the song, at least to me. Damn you, Robot!!!

The other thing this does is make me admit something: Schon's sound is really hard to replicate, even if replicating his personality should be something no one tries. And it also reminds me that Perry, in the day, could hurt other singers by just crooning.

But, yes, this is a good cover. Although the end seemed, well, a bit odd. Was that mechanical chant meant to make us move . . . back to the greatest hits CD collecting dust in our desks? If so, WIN!!!
