Brian May Releases New Star Fleet Project Video

To celebrate the re-release of his Star Fleet Project, guitarist Brian May is pushing out some new and old video clips of the band at work.

The re-release is a 40th anniversary celebration of Brian May's solo side project. When May went out to recruit musicians for his Star Fleet Project, he probably didn't quite know what to expect - or have any idea of what the all-star group would produce. Of course, the biggest get was Eddie Van Halen.

The special reissue features lots of musical outtakes and behind-the-scenes conversations between the musicians. For Queen fanatics - or just guitar nuts in general - getting this reissue on vinyl seems like a no-brainer.

Hmm.

I went to the official Queen site to check this out. Now, keep in mind, this is a three song EP originally. And I am really glad they mixed it in 2023. But, the prices? Come on! I get it. EVH was on it. He is now not with us. But, Mr. May, you are with us. So, what say you to asking fans to buy a collectible coin for $18.99? A picture disc--with that superb quality that an extra layer of stuff adds to LPs--at $34.99?

Then, I caught myself. You aren't asking me. You are asking those who already sold out the buying for a cassette(?!?!) at $17.49 and two box sets at $105 and $148.99, respectively.

Then, again, I caught myself again. I mean, "Let Me Out" sounds . . . like an outtake from a Queen album, without Mercury singing. So, there's that. And "Bluesbreaker" really turns the dial on jams between two great guitarists, being two great guitarists, while not being anywhere near their two respective bands. So, there's that.

For the fans? Sure. For the fans. And also for someone else, who is not a fan. I am thinking of a Pink Floyd song right now. Anyone guess which one?
