Jetboy Release New Cover

Jetboy just released a cover of the Gary Wright classic "Dream Weaver." I listen to Yacht Rock on Sirius XM a lot, so I hear "Dream Weaver" all the time. This Jetboy take is a good one!

Next weekend, Jetboy will play at the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood. Presumably this new release is to celebrate that show.

"Yuck Rock"???? Stop this boat, I wanna get off!

Dare I say it, but Finn can't really carry the magical nuances of Mssr. Wright. Not that I expected him to do so. But, you know, people like Taime and others have been able to set sail on the winds of good songs with good covers while achieving good tidings. This? He sounds like he is constipated, esp. as he draws closer to the chorus. It is kinda' cringe-inducing, in a lower-d(r)eck sorta way. I was gonna make a comment about scrubbing the poop deck, but thought better of it aft(er) I gave it some thought.

The other thing is, they hold too close to the original to actually make this work beyond the vocals. It sounds timid. Like, maybe we do, maybe we don't launch this sucker into the sea (reservoir? lake? pond?) of fans and out of the harbor of mediocrity. By staying to close to shore, they ran this darn cover aground. Beached it. No shore leave. Yeah. I'll stop.
