'Fugitive' -- New Dokken Song and Video

Dokken has new music! The band just released a video for the track "Fugitive." The song is on the upcoming album Heaven Comes Down due at the end of October. I have to say, "Fugitive" is pretty catchy and I love the guitar parts. Color me pleasantly surprised.

don’s always been able to craft a good song. he knows his limitations now and stays within his range. can’t wait to hear some of this new stuff live.

This is excellent! As good a song from our ancient heroes in ‘80’s rock that you’ll ever hear. Scorpions Rock Believer album is the high bar of best albums in last 5 years. We shall see if this Dokken album holds up. Wonder if George is annoyed at how much the guitar sounds like him!

I like it! I will likely add this to my "classic rock" playlist (which is currently just over 1600 songs and includes a few Dokken and Lynch Mob tracks). Levin's guitar sounds awesome. I was a little annoyed with how they green-screened the drummer and bassist in the video, but that's being very nit-picky. Videos are not what they once were.

This kicks serious ass! They’ve really been hit or miss lately for me with their limited output, but if this is the kind of stuff he has in store for us, I’m pumped! Lightning Strikes Again was my favorite “newer release” for them, although I know that was a while ago. Good stuff & thanks! 🤘🏼

I came to this post with some trepidation. But, well, I agree with all of you. After my break, this post was another reminder why I love this place!

This is a solid song for a band/guy I defend when others often won't (esp. when it comes to the live shows these days; and, even then, I can't really defend some of Don's more recent talk sessions/performances). The sporadic output since the classic era? Like some of it. Then again, you all know that.

Will the rest of the album live up to this? Who knows? And that really is the big issue. Then again, I liked _The Lost Songs_, as much for the fact that they fiddled with it as for the fact that it actually showed the hints of what was to come. Even early on, Don knew how to craft a song. He was just searching for the right band, sound, and imagery.

The other thing about this song that grabbed me was his vocals and his lyrics. He was, as others mentioned, leaning into his (limited) range at this point, though I assume he couldn't even do a reasonable job of imitating what (I assume) studio trickery helped make happen. But, at the same time, the lyrics are suggestive of just how knowing he actually is about all of that. For him this a mixture of business (just ask Lynch) and pleasure. In what percentages? I have a guess. But none of you care.

And the video was hilarious! JT, you are right. Videos aren't (all) what they once were. But some are good uses of the available tech. Some are not. This one was in the latter category. And the overall plot, while it occasionally sold the point of the song, could have perhaps been better served by . . . clips of classic Dokken playing on a tube-TV while current Don sits in a chair (or throne, if you want to go with that) holding a mic like a threat, a weapon, an afterthought, or all three!!!
