Doug Aldrich Announces Cancer Diagnosis

Well this sucks. Guitarist Doug Aldrich has throat cancer. Luckily it is treatable. This means Doug will miss the upcoming European run of The Dead Daisies tour. I wish him well and I know you do too.

Consummate musician. A journeyman (and I mean that as a compliment, as I don't see gifted artists working with lots of different, and talented musicians, as a negative) who has left his mark on some amazing songs.

My only regret was also a treat: the only time I got to see him was playing at "Raiding the Rock Vault" when it was still at the Tropicana several years back. It was an excellent show in a storied, though faded (and now shuttered), venue. Still a great memory.

Wishing him a speedy recovery!

I saw him during the same show in Vegas! It was kind of wild. - Allyson

Why "wild," Allyson? We gotta' know!!!

When my friend and I attended, it was a packed house. Great acoustics. Paul Shortino sounded great (as he was just singing and not providing his clues to the conspiracies that lurk in our politically-infused times), as did the ageless-ish McAuley. It was a whirlwind weekend, as we also saw Billy Idol's and The Scorpions' residencies.

Basically, for me, it was two hours of heaven. The sorta' revue that I wish existed in many more places and provided a haven for many more talented musicians.
