Feeling Restless
My cat Roosevelt kept waking me up last night. He likes to walk on me and at one point literally dive-bombed by chest to wake me up. Why? He was bored and wanted to play. Eric just swats him away and immediately goes back to sleep. I'm an incredibly light sleeper so any noise or movement usually causes me to stir. So at one of my many wakeful moments last night, I was laying in bed thinking about a post for this site. I had a pretty good idea going and was drafting in my head. Too bad I can't remember any of it.
Like, I've been writing for work for about seven hours straight now and my brain is just mush. I keep trying to remember my idea but I can't. It's infuriating. I can't tell you how many times this happens to me. I literally can't remember any of my site ideas anymore. I should keep a notepad by the bed for reminders I guess but then I'd have to turn on the light and wake myself up even more. It's a whole big thing.
To the folks freaking out, worrying I don't appreciate Pat Benatar (see Sunday's post) - have no fear, I like her a lot! She just got missed on the list and I agree that she can absolutely wail and in a good way!
I noticed on Reddit a bunch of folks talking about songs they can't stand to hear anymore and I chuckled. Every song listed is also in my "never again" file. Like, I never need to hear "Welcome To The Jungle Again" except when my Cincinnati Bengals run onto the field. One of the comments was about Sirius radio and how the focused stations are smart but so predictable. Literally, one guy has the exact same presets as me: Hair Nation, Ozzy's Boneyard, Classic Vinyl, 80s on 8, etc. He said he can predict every song that will be played each day and he's right. There are no deep cuts on those stations. I do listen to Deep Tracks a lot and that has some more unique songs, but it is not strictly hair metal.
I sort of wonder if the cyclical burnout of songs has to do with the seasons and the pandemic? People are edgy and eager to break free of the cold and the ways things have been for the past couple of years. Everything feels restless - at least to me. Of course there is major unrest in eastern Europe now and that doesn't help. The summer concert announcements are rolling out daily it seems, but I haven't noticed much to pique my interest and push me to spend over $100 for crappy nosebleeds... yet, at least. Spring is here in 13 days and the time changes this weekend! I always feel more settled when the weather stays consistently warm and the days bright and long. Maybe then I'll be more in the mood to overpay for a concert or listen to "Hear I Go Again" - again - for the 1000th time.
