Dirty Honey, 'Don't Put Out The Fire' (Live)

New Dirty Honey video! The band just released a live clip of their song "Don't Put Out The Fire" from Milan, Italy. This is bloody incredible song and great clip, too.

I still haven't seen Dirty Honey live... hopefully it will happen at least by the end of next year.

Riley's L.A. Guns Announce 'New' Track

So this is interesting: Riley's L.A. Guns will release "The Ballad of Jayne" on August 2. This will be an acoustic version of the L.A. Guns classic tune. Riley's version will also release a 7" vinyl of the song.

I'm not exactly sure what the goal is here since Steve Riley died back in October. So without him... why keep the band going? Of course bass player Kelly Nickels is a member of this band. In a perfect world, he would go back to L.A. Guns with Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns but the world isn't perfect, so...

Happy Fourth of July, America! 2024 Edition

There are lots of fireworks and concerts on television tonight for your celebrating pleasure. Macy's is hosting the nation's largest display from New York City and there will be musical guests. CNN is broadcasting the Washington, D.C. (among other places) fireworks and that show will have more rock acts than Macy's including The Killers, The Goo Goo Dolls, REO Speedwagon and Yellowcard.

The CNN broadcast starts at 7 p.m. ET and Macy's show starts at 8 p.m. Deadline has more details below.

Finally, remember your pets probably hate fireworks so keep them inside tonight and comfort them.

Steely Dan, 'Gaucho' - Reaction Video

This is awesome.

I love reaction videos, especially when they are genre-blurring. The Airplay Beats channel on YouTube has lots of great reaction clips. The duo here have a great knowledge of different types of music. They are producers and really understand the complexity of songs and how long it takes to get a track just right.

"Gaucho" is from the 1980 Steely Dan album of the same name. It's a masterpiece and marks the end of the classic era of the Dan - and the title track is just genius.

Moondance Jam Drops All National Acts

Ok so this is shocking. Moondance Jam - a massive summer rock festival in Walker, MN - has announced a restructuring for this year's event. Instead of national acts, Moondance will feature only regional bands.

The festival will take place July 18-20, so it is coming up quick.

The reason for the massive change is money. According to the statement (below) the "current economic climate" meant that the organizers couldn't reach the required financial thresholds to put on an event with a national acts. Refunds are being offered.

Bands are starting to post their own announcements about the cancellation. See Creed below as one example.

Somedays, You Just Need Funk

Sunday, Funday and this one is a good one for some funk. I was kind of on a Bruno Mars kick today so naturally that leads to my beloved Silk Sonic. That's the duo of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.

I started watching some performance clips and just kept smiling. The crowd screaming is wild and everyone is dancing and having fun. Not a care in the world! The touring guitarist in the first clip is Mateus Asato from Brazil. He got "known" for playing tiny clips on Instagram. (Mars and Paak play most of the guitars on their Silk Sonic debut).

My very favorite Silk Sonic live performance that I've seen is when they did the Billboard Music Awards in 2022 for their version of "Love's Train." Seriously listen to the crowd going bonkers. Freaking epic:

Some other performances that bring me pure joy are below:

"Fly As Me" - from the BET Soul Train awards (2021)

"777" from the Grammy Awards (2022)

"Leave The Door Open" from the Grammy Awards (2021) - and the first time Silk Sonic ever performed live as a group! This song won four Grammy awards.
