Joe Bonamassa & Train Release 'Hold On Loosely' Cover

So this is interesting: Joe Bonamassa teamed up with Train to release a cover of the .38 Special classic "Hold On Loosely." I've always been a big fan of the song and this cover is great. Honestly, this might be the best Train has ever sounded (to me, at least). Obviously, Bonamassa's guitar work is awesome. The collab we didn't know we needed!

My good friend Joe gave me a vintage .38 Special shirt a few weeks ago. It's from their 1984 tour. The shirt is from one of the shows the band did with the basically unknown-at-the-time Bon Jovi! It's too big for me, but I will figure out a way to style it.

Conquer Divide Releases New Version Of 'Paralyzed' With Attack! Attack!

Metalcore Friday!

So this was a surprise! My beloved Conquer Divide partnered up with my faves Attack! Attack@ to do a new version of "Paralyzed" from the album Slow Burn.

The new version adds Christopher Parketny's vocals and makes for an interesting version of the song. "Paralyzed" was already on my running playlist. I'm going to swap the original out for this version for a new punch.

Singer Jack Russell Announces Retirement From Touring

This was probably inevitable and still sad to see: singer Jack Russell has announced his retirement from performing. He has Lewy Body Dementia. It's a debilitating disease that causes muscle atrophy and dementia. Symptoms progress slowly and it isn't clear how long Jack has been battling the disease, but it has obviously been awhile.

The retirement news comes on the heels of his autobiography release. I wish Jack well - and I hope his version of Great White hangs it up for good at this point.

Another Member Of The 'Billion Stream' Club

I've been listening to a lot of Bob Marley lately. Probably because the music just equals summer and good vibes to me.

The other day I saw a post that "Three Little Birds" reached the milestone one billion streams on Spotify. Does that mean anything? Probably just that the song is iconic and awesome. It doesn't really mean a ton in extra royalties because streaming doesn't pay all that much, but it's still an amazing accomplishment.  Honestly, I prefer "You Could Be Loved" from the Marley cannon. It's probably my favorite track of Bob Marley's & The Wailers. It originally appeared on the album Uprising.

"Three Little Birds" appeared on the monumental release Exodus and is typically the Bob Marley song you hear used in commercials and movies and the like.

What have you been listening to this summer?

Available Now: 'The True Tale of Mista Bone: A Rock + Roll Narrative'

I've been watching for this news: Jack Russell's autobiography, The True Tale of Mista Bone: A Rock + Roll Narrative is available now. The Great White singer has obviously had some highs - and devastating lows - during his long career, and I want to see what he has to say about it all. I'm sure the horrific Station Nightclub fire plays a major role in this book.

Right now, Amazon has the hardcopy only. I am waiting for a digital release - hopefully that comes fast!

Metallica Hits A Major Chart Milestone

Maybe with the exception of Taylor Swift and Adele - can any other modern artist duplicate the amazing album success of Metallica's self-titled album?

Being on Billboard for 750 weeks is an amazing feat. To be sure I own the "Black" album in various formats and it seems like most other folks to do as well. Regarding the other historical feats mentioned in the post below - I have The Dark Side Of The Moon on many formats as well and I just purchased Bob Marley's Legend on vinyl last month.

Great White - Full Performance Live Video

Here's a new video of Great White performing live in Los Angeles. The show was recorded July 10 at the KLOS Helpful Honda Rock Room. Gotta say, Great White does sound awesome here. Singer Brett Carlisle is doing a great job! And yes, dude isn't even 30 yet - talk about new energy!
