South Texas Rock Fest

southtexas.jpg

If you don't care for the Rocklahoma 2008 line-up there is an alternative: the South Texas Rock Fest.

The San Antonio-based event is three days and features some great Glam bands. It is sponsored by Miller-Lite and Harley-Davidson.

Confirmed bands for the South Texas Rock Fest are:

Bang Tango, House of Lords, Stephen Pearcy, Jackyl, Helix, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Firehouse, Y&T, Queensryche, Dokken, Skid Row, Pretty Boy Floyd, Mad Margritt and more. Evidently there are several bands still to be announced...

Did I mention the South Texas Rock Fest is the exact same weekend as Rocklahoma? Exactly - it is July 11-13. Talk about a bummer. If the festivals were different weekends, I would go to both.

Here's something else you need to know: tickets for the South Texas Rock Fest go on sale today. V.I.P. seats are just $250 bucks and include beer and food. Here's the caveat: there are only 100 V.I.P. seats - so you better act fast. Camping is free with a paid ticket.

Just look at what you get with your V.I.P. ticket:

  • VIP identification badge.
  • Event T-shirt.
  • Prime VIP seating on the stage.
  • Private VIP tent with lounging sofas.
  • Several VIP Receptions with food and drink.
  • A meal all three evenings along with hors d'oeuvres all day.
  • Meet & Greets with the bands when available.
  • Massage therapist.
  • VIP Games.
  • Men or women's VIP gift.
  • Private Party in the VIP lounge after the show.
  • Free Beer, Sodas, Water, Red Bull

If funds are tight (and they always are in my household!) you can get a three day general admission pass for just $75. That's a deal.

***What do you think of this festival competing with Rocklahoma? I think the promoters are brave to say the least.

We are going to STRF from Georgia. The fact that the VIP package is better and lower priced than ROK sold me. I think having only 100 VIP tickets is a great idea..there is nothing VIP about being in a VIP group of 1000 or more. The flight to TX was super cheap on Air Tran and we got an amazing deal on hotel and rental car..the entire trip will cost the two of us about $1100...not bad at all!

Hmmm...That's odd.

I just went to the STRF site and clicked on the link to purchase VIP tickets. I already have mine, but just out of curiosity I wanted to see if they were sold out yet, since they claim that they are only selling 100 of them. Well, I put 99 tickets in my "basket" and it allowed me to purchase them! So I clicked "continue" and it prompted me to enter my credit card info, meaning that that they would in fact let me purchase 99 of them. Now, I already purchased 2, so even with just those tickets (not including the ones that other people have purchased) that would put it over 100.
What gives?!!

So...who wants to e-mail STRF and ask?

I asked Luis at STRF is there are more than 100 VIP tickets and this was his response:

No, we have about 15 left, the stage will not hold more than 100 guest, after we sell all the prime VIP, we will open a VIP seating in front of the stage, these VIP will not have access to your VIP area, We are true to our exclusive VIP attendees.
Thank You
Luis

Belle,

Thanks a lot for finding that out.
At least we now know that they aren't selling more than 100.
I'm still not quite sure what they mean by seating "on the stage"...does that mean behind the band, or just off stage right or stage left? It sounds pretty cool, though.
They say that they're gonna be adding more bands, and I wish they'd announce them soon...I'm really curious as to who it may be.

Damn...I can't wait til July!!

Logistically,it would be easy for Crue to do both festivals. How cool would that be?!?!!!

I am going to ROK - so I am hoping and praying that they are in OK - but both would be awesome for the fans!!!!

Well, It appears that the 100 prime VIP tickets are now sold out. Right now they are just selling single-day tickets, but it says that soon they will be selling a 3-day Lawn VIP pass for $150 that includes the lawn area directly in front of the stage.
And they'll also soon be selling a 3-day Bleacher VIP pass for $200 that includes covered and cooled bleacher seating, private VIP restrooms and beer tent, a free T-shirt, and a free event program.

I'm just glad I got my $250 prime VIP passes already...you snooze you lose.

I'm ready to ROCK!!

They've just added the band AXE to the line-up on Friday. I've heard that name many times over the years, but I'll have to go online and find out what they sound like....

Well, I just heard about the rockfest and I am very disappointed about not getting the VIP $250 tickets. Anybody know anybody that is selling theirs? After the Spurs game I need a little good news!
*If nobody selling theirs...anyone know a broker that is?
Thanks for any assistance.
