Givin' Yourself Away

One of RATT's most underrated - and exquisite songs - is "Givin' Yourself Away." There was never a video for this song - until now.

Metal Sludge is down a lot these days, but every once in awhile I still get on and see what fellow rock fans are saying. Much to my surprise I found someone had discovered the lost video of "Givin' Yourself Away."

The song is featured on the Detonator album - definitely one of the band's best efforts. RATT released Detonator in 1990 and the album also features "Shame, Shame, Shame" and "One Step Away."

"Givin' Yourself Away" has always been one of my favorite RATT songs. The video is such a great find - it isn't slick and it shows the band toward the end of their prime era. For that reason, watching the clip is a little bittersweet. This video also shows just a few shots of a very happy Robbin Crosby.

Here is the clip. Please watch and enjoy. I can't wait for your comments.

Awesome song, thanks for the video. The person who never made that song and "One Step Away" the first two singles from the album should be hung out to dry. They pissed away millions of dollars because those two songs would've made that album a top seller for sure.

Pretty cool, esp. since it's not your typical RATT tune.

Cool Beans Allyson! Thanks for the vid, as I've never saw it before, or even had any idea that they made a video for that song.

It's kind of odd they didn't put it on the DVD, would have made a cool extra. Or is it there and I didn't notice ?

THANK YOU!! I love this song to bits, ever since I first heard it on Ratt&Roll, the greatest hits cd. There's something about it that gets me.

I love, love this blog.

Love the song, always my favorite from Detonator. And seeing a video for it was cool, even though it looks like there are only 2 guys in the band and three hired guns. I like Warren's playing as much as the next guitar playing, but more of the live shots would have been cool.

Man, I am a huge Ratt fan, but I have to say, this video was shot when the end was near and it shows. Stephen Pearcy looks ridiculous: Hockey knee pads, what the Hell? And considering what happened to Robbin Crosby after that album, frankly it's kind of heartbreaking. It doesn't view like a great lost video so much as a snapshot of a plane as it falls out of the sky shortly before it crashes and burns. Sad.
