Take Five - Watch This

Oh my Glam.

You must watch this clip of Guns n' Roses at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. The song is "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" - and watching is worth the five minutes! I think this is just about the only time I can remember seeing a clip of Slash not playing a Gibson sunburst. I've been thinking about Guns n' Roses a lot lately. I've been reading Watch You Bleed, which is a biography of the band. When I get a few minutes to finish the book, I'll post up a review. In the meantime I've been enjoying revisiting some old Guns clips on YouTube. Enjoy.

they won't get toghether, Axl has moved on from old sound, like it or not, and form what he said there is no chance for reunion. I love new sound let Axl do his thing and Slash his thing. I' m looking forward to follow up to Chinese Democracy

G&R could be great live back in the day when they wanted to, and when Axl bothered to show up, but more often than not, they were not. I saw them on a triple bill with Aerosmith and Deep Purple in the Summer of '90 or '91, and I thought G&R were terrible. Axl kept whining like a little baby about how the sound sucked, and I think they only played for like a half hour. In contrast, both Deep Purple and Aerosmith were total class and blew G&R not only off the stage, but out of the stadium.

I was at Guns concert during Rock Am Ring, and wow !! they blow all other bands, they were fantastic, "Nightrain" was real highlight I think that I haven't heard better version, that song really worked with massive wall of guitars and Ron's solos, some older stuff was great and "Better" "Madagascar" and "IRS" very also mindblowing, espcially IRS wich was really heavy version

My favorite performance from the Freddie Mercury Tribute show was Extreme! George Michael and Lisa Stansfield too!

while i personally do not like the musical direction gnr has gone in it is what it is and that's fine. even if slash and the others were to allowed to come back it wouldn't be the same if they continued this way and had no input in the music. i'd like velvet revolver to get the right singer (this time) and both bands can continue on their seperate ways.

I do like Chinese Democracy but it still makes me kinda sad when I see old Gn'R...They were one of a kind. Been nothing like them since.

GNR was a great band live in its day. Saw them first when Appetite came out with about 2000 people at the Toledo Sports Arena - my favorite time to see them. Then saw em open the Illusion tour at a muddy race track with a zillion people, fun! The last time was the double header with Metallica - I vowed never again. That nonsense of making the crowd wait hours is crap.

Its interesting to read Slash's autobiography (a good read) and hear how that coming on late stuff really upset the rest of the band. The book definitly gives the impression a reunion would never happen, but anything is possible! (now would I go if they got back together...)
