Mr. Big Reunion?

So the hot rumor on the street right now is that Mr. Big is getting ready to reunite. That reunion will happen in tour form...with a few stops at festivals along the way. The big question is, of course, do you care?

The biggest quandary facing Mr. Big is that the band was always grossly underrated. The fact of the matter is that Mr. Big was comprised of great musicians - but horribly branded by one hit song. "To Be With You" isn't necessarily everything that Mr. Big stands for - but is all anyone seems to remember. Sad.

The fact that Billy Sheehan was a member should at least count for something. The man is a machine on the bass! This isn't to say that Eric Martin, Pat Torpey and Paul Gilbert didn't pull their weight - because they did. Mr. Big created a lot of very moving, spiritual hard rock songs - yet no one really gives the band their due props. I can see this reunion working if Mr. Big latches on to a shed tour over the summer. I don't anticipate the band going out on their own and enjoying a very successful run but the right package just might make for a fun evening of summer music and drinking under the stars.

I'll admit that if Mr. Big plays an event like Rocklahoma, I'll be all over it. Festivals are great for seeing newly reunited bands or lesser known acts. I can't think of a better excuse to scream the lyrics of "To Be With You" and "Just Take My Heart" in the blazing heat in the middle of Oklahoma.

So, what do you think? Are you excited for a Mr. Big reunion?

Why would so many people in the net write about the "almost reunion" if people were not interested!? I'm guessing there will never be another band like Mr. Big again in our lifetime. People who werent born yet in the 90s are even fans today, just through youtube. No one else will ever perform like Billy, Paul, and Pat, or sing like Eric. And I think there's no better combination of musicians as them. If there ever will be another band just as good, thats only because they're fans too.

PS: I think the hit is not horrible. It was just the times. If there was youtube and DVD in the 90s they would have been more famous. People would have seen more of their live performances.

Mr. Big is a band I wish didn't have that huge hit single, it spun them completely away from the rocking band they were formed to be originally. They became a band trying to get lightning to strike twice.I would support a reunion because Mr. Billy Sheehan is my favorite musician of all time

This would be awesome and I hope to check them out a few times this summer if true...one of the bands I have never seen live.

This was a very underrated band that once they had success with TBWY, it was all downhill after that. That was one of my least favorite songs by them and I always loved Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan. I'd be interested in seeing what this band could do again. I'm sure if they toured they wouldn't come anywhere around the south but chances would be good for a Festival over the summer. Works for me!

Wow this is good news! I think a reunion would be pretty cool.... Paul Gilbert is one of the most talented guitarists to come out of that era...

But I know what you mean Allyson, it's a shame that most people only know them for the song, "To Be With You".... they had a lot of other great, hard rockin' songs as well...

But thanks for posting!

Billy Sheehan is one of the greatest bass players ever. He's up there with Geddy Lee in style and ability. And anyone who can put up with Diamond David Lee Roth's crap has my respect.

Mr. Big was the first band to use the drill in a song before VH ripped them off. While To Be With You is a great song, Green Tinted Sixties Mind is 1000% better. I still jam to that song to this day.

I would love to see them at a festival or as part of an ampitheater tour. Perhaps Def Leppard and Poison can add Mr. Big to the bill. That would be a pretty nice concert.

I am looking forward to it. I think Eric Martin is way underrated as a frontman.

This will be one of the best reunions ever....
I saw Eric Martin and Ritchie Kotzen Live in San Paolo and I remember that I was wondering if I could see Mr. Big together again!

Great news!!!

Not likely to happen though as Billy & Eric can't stand each other!

Paul said last year "there was too much baggage for that to happen"

Fans have been emailing Billy about a reunion or not, and one said he emailed back, "I'd love a reunion too and I'll see what i can do". Its in the forum of www.ericmartin.com. And btw, there's this latest update by Billy Sheehan on the web, quote "There are a few more surprises in store for 2009. I think MANY, MANY people will be very happy to hear about it.".. as far as i've known, there never has been any bigger act in their lives than Mr. Big. I think this is definitely going to happen. I just wish it happens in Asia..

As a huge fan of MR.BIG, I absolutely glad that this great reunion eventually happened!

Don't look and hear on ballad songs such as TBWY, Just Take My Heart etc, but what I can't hardly wait is how cool they are when they perform What's Gonna Be, Merciless, DBLLB, Collorado Bulldog, Never Say Never, Take Cover and many others HARD ROCKIN SONGS!!!

PG and Billy duel (again) will be fuckin' great!! Along with the Drill for sure!!

PS: To Tony: Hopefully they'll drill ASIA soon! (Jakarta's waiting!)
