What The Hell Was MCA Thinking?

Why the hell did MCA Records try to destroy Pretty Boy Floyd right out of the gate? The band has some good tunes, but my Glam, these photos are a nightmare and actually speaks to a larger point: a bad image really can derail an entertainer from getting famous. No words can describe these photos. Just...wow.

Which rock star would you like to see in one of these...outfits? And no, Manowar does not count. Go!

Bill Aucoin had something to do with this look? Haha...say no more!! He probably tried to lure them into his orifice for another label deal.

(Did i say orifice? I meant to say office....haha...or did I? Hahaha)

You are right about Bill Aucoin telling them to do this. I happen to be at the sound stage the day Bill Aucoin had them premier a show case for him in these outfits. I was tagging along with a friend who had some reason to stop at the stuido. My friend asked if we could stay and watch and nobody had an issue with it. It was Bill, one of the guys from Autograph (Steve Plunkett) if my memory is correct (don't quote me on it being Steve but it was one of the guys from Autograph). . It was odd watching it go down. Me and my friend where standing in the back. Bill and Steve where sitting in folding chairs in the middle of the room. There was a creep factor with Bill (but not with Steve) going on, you could sense it. They put on a great performance to two dudes in folding chairs and two people standing in the back. I give them props for giving their ALL in those outfits that day.

If memory serves me correct, there was an attitude/vibe of we got to do what we got to do to try to make it in this industry with the band members about performing in thongs. I don't think they liked the idea much, but it was Bill Aucoin telling them to do it. What are you going to do when your a glam band and the guy who manged KISS is telling you this would be a good idea.

I don't remember the name of the studio, but it was on The north side of Santa Monica blvd between Highland and Vine in Hollywood.
