What The Hell Was MCA Thinking?

Why the hell did MCA Records try to destroy Pretty Boy Floyd right out of the gate? The band has some good tunes, but my Glam, these photos are a nightmare and actually speaks to a larger point: a bad image really can derail an entertainer from getting famous. No words can describe these photos. Just...wow.

Which rock star would you like to see in one of these...outfits? And no, Manowar does not count. Go!

I like Floyd but this is the gayest glam band picture ever a close second is the ones of Stevie rachelle of Tuff lifting weights in full glam mode wearing a towel. WTF!

Whoops Allyson, you've got it all wrong.

This near-naked phase was WAY after Pretty Boy Floyd had been dropped by MCA. It was the idea of a couple of limp-wristed advisors, Kenny Kerner and Bill Aucoin, and these photos never appeared in national mags, as the Pretty Boy Floyd buzz was long over by the time the guys tried this desperate move to gain attention.

Believe me, Steve Summers and Kari Kane were were among my best friends, and he regretted it from the very beginning but went along with it because Aucoin had managed KISS.

Yup. You'll notice Aerial Stiles is in these photos, not guitarist Kristy Majors. This was long after MCA clipped the band ... But that doesn't make the photos/image any less ridiculous. In fact, the real truth is PBF was on the verge of securing another major record deal with a different company when the execs came to the Roxy and saw these outfits, then did an about face ... The What The Hell Were They Thinking part is right on, just not MCA.

What type of names are Kristy and Ariel for MALES? I think they're dressed appropritley for their names..I wasn't much impressed when Tommy Lee came out with just a mini jock, either. I would much rather leave it to the imagination...spandex is ok..unless you're David Lee Roth and have no but in your pants. I like poison's music, but never did understand the "drag queen look for any band. As far as a group I'd like to see in these outfits. I would pick Mr. Obama, his sidekick, Joe, and a couple select cabinet members. (NOT).
