Oh My Ra - Slash Helps with Rock Week on American Idol?
The other day, Slash Twittered that he was asked to be the "mentor" next week on American Idol. Yeah, next week is rumored to be rock week. When I received this Twitter I squealed and my husband admonished me. He totally doesn't get it. You see, people, we're talking about Slash and Adam Lambert on.the.same.show.talking.rock.music.
Glamtastic!
On and on I kept saying I could feel a week of epic proportions ahead. Now, to be clear: rock week is not confirmed. It's not even certain Slash will participate on the show. We should know for sure tomorrow night.
Tonight's theme is Big Band week. I'm excited as every week because that means hearing a new song from Adam - but I'll be honest: I wish we could skip ahead to rock week.
There are already tons of threads on American Idol forums around the Interwebs with people speculating what Adam will sing for rock week. See, from now on the contestants get to sing two songs per episode. That's double the Glam, Shaggy!
Adam would be well suited to play up his Glambert side. Yeah, I said Glambert. He can do one power ballad and one rocker and just go ahead and put the nail in the coffin on this competition. Some critics say small Kris Allen is gaining on Adam. I suppose that's the case if most Americans want another Jason Mraz. I sure don't.
You knew I was going to ask, so here it is: what should Adam sing for rock week?
The popular choices among most Idol fans are "I Remember You," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Paradise City" and "Dream On." I would argue Adam shouldn't sing Guns n' Roses just because of the Slash factor. I'd love for Adam to sing "Caroline No" by the Beach Boys (yeah, they are considered a rock band) and "Nobody's Fault" by Aerosmith. Beyond that, I'm not guessing!
"Caroline No"
"Nobody's Fault"
I'll post about tonight's episode after it airs on the east coast.

That would be epic. Despite the fact I dont watch American Idol.

motley crue - Dr.Feelgood
How about bringing news about all those amazing bands all over the world? I find new and awesome bands on MySpace every day (most are from Sweden *lol*), which are never mentioned here and fit the glam category. I wish you would take a step back and realize that those are the bands who need our support. Not singers on AI who are watched by 20 Mio. people each week.
Sigh.
Ain’t gonna happen, so get over it.
As I’ve said several times in the past: if you don’t like what is written here, stop reading. It’s really just that simple. I’m a vegetarian, so I don’t frequent steak houses. I’m a liberal so I don’t attend Republican rallies. I have common sense so I don’t spew whiny comments all over public forums.
As a closing note, if you don’t think Slash being a guest judge on American Idol has a place on Bring Back Glam! you are sorely mistaken. I guess I could wait for all of you to start your own websites, dedicated to new content and original writing every single day of the year…but methinks I’d be holding my breath so long, I’d die.
This is all that will be said on the matter.
Kisses,
Allyson
Now, as for everyone having their panties in a bunch about what Allyson writes on here, she has a point. It's her blog and she can write what she wants... I would tend to agree though that the weekly posting about AI are a little much sometimes... granted, Slash potentially on AI does have validity... but I say keep up the typical great work we've gotten used to and leave the AI speculation to the "regular" sites...
Why havent you called Crashdïet, you could to a reportage about their rise and fall or any other band?
What's happening with Crazy Lixx,Sister or Vains of Jenna?
And, yes, I am biased because I love Adam Lambert, but the kid is def. Glam and it is entirely appropriate to have his performances along with Allyson's commentary on "Bring Back Glam" .. cos THAT is exactly what Adam is doing!
Despite the fact that there obviously is a rocker on AI this season, Slash potentially being a mentor is entirely news worthy for rock fans!
*sighs*
This is a free site people. While you are welcome to your opinions, it isn't costing you anything but time to read this site. If you don't like what's on it, spend your time elsewhere.
I for one am thrilled that Allyson chooses to spend HER time writing for us, whatever the subject matter.
