This Version of "Hound Dog" Owns You

What happens when members of Bon Jovi, Cinderella and the Scorpions get together at the Moscow Peace Festival? Awesomeness ensues, of course. The bands jammed to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" way back when. The clip below is nothing short of a piece of classic Glam: our favorite bands in their heyday in front of a MASSIVE crowd. If I had a time machine, I'd definitely roll back the years and try to get backstage at this show. Good times.

A compilation album called Stairway to Heaven/Highway to Hell was created after that show with contributions from many (all?) of the bands that performed.

My favorite song from the album is easily Skid Row's cover of the Sex Pistols' Holidays in the Sun -- that song actually introduced me to the Sex Pistols and I became a huge fan punk afterwards. There are other covers by Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, and the Scorpions, as well as a few songs with all of them jamming together at the Moscow Peace Festival.

I have no idea if that record is still available anywhere, but I highly recommend it to fans of those bands. That show occurred at pretty much the height of the 80's glam/hard rock era and it captures some of the biggest bands at their best and most relevant.

I have that CD, I also have the double video release, on DVD. It is very cool. It's probably the only place you'll find a live version of 'All in the name of Rock n Roll'

AH, Memories! Who all remembers being glued to MTV during this time (Adam Curry and the top 20 countdown on the plane), and getting the two day pay per view special along with it airing on radio (westwood 1, i think?)?
What a lineup! I'd given almost anything to have seen it live myself.

I always wished they'd release this on DVD with backstage footage. I'd pay a mint for it!
