Metallica: Save the Date

Well, talk about a cryptic press release. Here's exactly what I received in my email:

METALLICA: SAVE THE DATE

WHO:

Metallica

WHAT:
Save The Date

WHEN:
Tuesday, February 7th at 11:00 AM PST

So exactly what does this all mean? A movie? A new album? A tour? All three? Perhaps their own, branded festival? I guess we'll have to wait and see. What do you think the news is about?

It's either a live album featuring performances from each of those venues or the stuff is all the gigs they're gonna play for their upcoming tour. Let's hope they leave Lou Reed behind, if that's the case. Talk about needing to put out a new album pronto after that "Lulu".

p.s. There's no reason why that collaboration wouldn't have worked out if all the participants had just put a little more effort into the project. Instead, they just winged it and wound up with one of the worst albums in music recording history.

These guys need to do something bad, I mean GOOD, pronto. My advice: Go big!

p.s.s.t. To be honest, I could take or leave these guys now. They pretty much lost me after "Master of Puppets" and I haven't even bothered to listen to that in decades. I always thought Hetfield should have exited for good when he split during the making of that documentary and just gone solo. Imagine it in chrome lettering: HETFIELD. sounds like a winner to me. Maybe he'll do it as a side project, that is, if the Napoleon complexed Ulrich can handle it.

With any luck, its the firing of that hack Lars Ulrich.

Lars announced at the San Fran shows plans to do the same thing on the east coast in late June. I would expect another 3-4 day residency but would be much happier with their own destination festival with more bands
