Robbie Crane Leaves RATT

In a shock move, bassist Robbie Crane up and quit RATT. He left an official statement on his Facebook page regarding his decision to depart the band:

"After 15 years, I have made the decision to move on from Ratt. Thank you to all of the Ratt fans who have been so supportive through my tenure. It has been a pleasure!"

Robbie still has his gig with Lynch Mob. Does this mean RATT is about to reunite with Juan Croucier? Things might get really interesting soon. Especially since RATT is still working on a new album... and who plays bass with RATT at M3 this summer? Inquiring minds want to know.

Discuss.

Embrace the live RATT history below.

I think you're all getting your self wound up over nothing.
I've known Juan a lonnnnng time, since RATT was a bar band.
Re-Joining Ratt is probably the LAST thing he'd ever want to do.

Ace should know. I won't hold my breath. If ya don't mind me askin', Croucier doin' these days, Ace?

If they could pay him enough, wouldn't it be worth it to 'em. Certainly, it would raise their status even higher into the upper echelons of the genre.

Does it not make them more desirable and thus allow them to command more dollars to play. Seems to me, though a little late in the game, this is now what you could potentially call The Mark II Classic Line-Up since Cavazo is no slouch on that geetar.

He's got the Quiet Riot pedigree and is very much a longtime fixture of The L.A. Scene, giving him plenty of cred to be a more than qualified replacement for the legendary better half of DiMartini, Robbin Crosby.

Time to Rock Heavy, Croucier. Rejoin now!!!

Dangin' iPad auto-erase!...

If you don't mind me askin', what's Croucier up to these days, Ace? Thanx!

p.s. RIP, Robbin.

I thought Juan was running a studio. I agree with Ace in that I do not see him coming back now. If he didn't comeback from a deal with Capitol then why now. Here is my left field idea. Bring back John Corabi to play bass. I know he plays guitar but I am pretty sure he could handle the duties. Plus he sings great back up, knows the material, and is a terrific song writer.

Last time I saw Juan, he was deep in to his production side of things. If the thinking is to grab a former RATT member, why not bassist Joey Cristofanilli who replace Juan the 1st 2 times he left Ratt? (pre- "Out Of The Cellar", kids.)

Hey Jimbo, that is some pretty fine armchair dismissal and air-grabbing hope . . . all in one well worded entry.

Aside from being an approachable guy in a band with enough prima donna personalities for three, Crane stepped up to the mike and helped out Ratt when a certain singer couldn't handle the festival/bar circuit frenzy (and did the same thing when it happened in Lynch Mob as well).

Whether he left or not, he was a part of the recent surge in interest the band experienced (regardless of how Blotzer treated him in interviews, etc.). Fifteen years should count for something if you are a fan of the band.

Croucier would bring a bit more nostalgia to the act, and some crazy moves. But he has built up a career that isn't being dictated by this or that members latest temper tantrum.

If Croucier rejoins, that is great news. But I would think Crane deserves the same sort of respect he showed the fans during his time in the band and in announcing his departure.

And Scott, Corabi would be a great "what if" in my opinion. He is under-appreciated, incredibly talented, and responsible for the best album the Crue has done . . . since he was in the Crue.

Hey Ace Steele,
I did more research on Joey Cristofanilli and the Ratt situation. I found this.....Some one was asking what happen to him. Ask the 'Creep: Who the Heck Is Joey Cristofanilli?

He is now playing in a cover band in Buffalo NY. 'Silver Xtreme' There are plenty of videos on You Tube. He plays at a club called Chuggers,in Seneca,{Buffalo} N.Y. where my Ozzy Osbourne Tribute is playing May 19th 2012.

Thanks Roy. It's nice to have a little more update on exactly where Joey is these days.

RATT's always been a bit of a "revolving door" when it comes to members. Would it surprise some of you to know that at one time, When Warren ditched Ratt to go play in Dokken, Ratt's lead guitarist was Bullet Boys lead screamer Marq Torien?

And since we're discussing all those who've passed thru Ratt, if they ever decide to do without Blotzer, they should go back to the best drummer they ever had, Khurt Maier, last seen in Salty Dog.

Told you they were a revolving door!

P.S. For those who really want to see Juan back, here's a bit of video from the summer of 2011, of him playing Round & Round in a bar with his band "Juan Croucier's Dirty Rats".

I'm not surprised by this at all. I visited with Robbie for several minutes one-on-one on the Monsters of Rock Cruise back in February and he told me in a round about way that he was finished with RATT. I didn't press him on the topic, but he made it very clear that he was now with Lynch Mob full-time and having a great time. He seemed a little frustrated with RATT in regards to the dysfunction of Stephen and other band members.

I wish Robbie the best. He is the nicest guy you could imagine. He's doing a wonderful job with Lynch Mob and they rock it out harder than RATT does in the first place.

Wow. Did I stick my foot in my mouth!
I never thought Juan would do it, but it looks like he just may play with Ratt at M3, after all!
