Here We Go: First Videos of Rising West Live

Rising West is the new band made up of Queensryche members... sans Geoff Tate. The singer is Todd La Torre. The band performed live for the first time a couple days ago. Basically, I am so stoked and I must see this band live. Here are some clips for your enjoyment. You have to admit... this rules.

8 of the 13 Ryche songs played we done by QR over the last few tours. What's the point? All this drama for 5 old songs nobody on stage wrote?

The point is... These songs now sound 100% better with Rising West playing them. I was at the last Queensryche show (Rocklahoma) and they SUCKED. It is cool to hear these songs sang by someone who can do them justice.

never been a Queensryche fan, but they do sound very energized with la Torre on vocals who, despite barely being able to hear him in the videos, seems to have the pipes to pull it off.

The Queensryche band members aren't able to make the scheduled show opening for the Scorpions tonight in Utah so it is now a Geoff Tate solo show. I can't imagine the Scorps are too happy about that late notioe

Not bad, I think they would have been better off with Antony Parviainen from the former Finish band Machine Men. For those of you unfamiliar with the band check out the below link:

Unfortunately they are no longer together and have recently called it a day after ten years. Check them out on youtube, they were pretty good.

I saw them last summer and they sounded great. They sounded fine on the M3 show. Unfortunately for the people at Rocklahoma all the drama killed that performance.
They have been touring constantly for awhile, they probably needed a break from one another. Just wish it would have been amicable. Isn't QR's 2nd guitarist dating Geoff's daughter? That has got to be awkward now.
I hope the same people that kill other bands of being their own cover acts are doing the same with these guys.

Bill, Sparky, Rock-It, Bob, Will, Jeff, Scott -- that's nice, but the real news is about 5 Posts back with Al's Post called "Just Because This Is Awesome: Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi Together".

She not only has a clip of Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi there, she found one of Cheap Trick and Whitesnake doin' ZZ Top's "Tush" and another with Vince Neil still on top of his game singin' the Elvis hit, "Jailhouse Rock"!

Now get your Glam on and go back there and comment (good or bad) or I quit! That's right, you heard me right!

Check out one of the coolest moments in L.A. Rock History back on that post, or I'm out! If you want my BBG! avatar dead, go ahead, don't comment! I'm gettin' sick of seein' all the comments for posts about Modern Rock or 80's Prog Metal and then zip for one like The Trick/Jovi/Snake/Crüe Historic Moment Post just 5 back.

Bring Back Glam! Bring Back Glam! Bring Back Glam!

Note: I must say, Rising West (dumb name) ROCK OUT way more on "Queen Of The Reich" (Queensryche's masterpiece) without Geoffy Weffy!

p.s. What's the matter, Christian? Cat got yer tongue? Go ahead. Don't comment. It's your chance to get rid of me once and for all and take over with all your stuff on UNROCK subjects like Nicklehack, Iron Maiden, Rush and all your other Non-Glam Metal crap! And, no, Nickleback is far frickin' from being anywhere near the monumental heights of Crüe or Poison! That's REAL Rock'n'Roll. I'm beginning to wonder if you REALLY are aware of the difference! If you don't, I'm just about to give up on the whole thing and hang my head at The Funeral of Rock and Roll.

I will be bummed if QR is no more, but won't choose sides. I saw Tate solo earlier this year, and would most definitely see Rising West if they tour as well (would be great to see them on Monsters of Rock cruise as well). Fact that rest of band supposedly did not show up for tonight's show probably good indication of where things are headed with the band in near term.

Zzzzzzz!!!!, Metal Mike! Except for "Queen of The Reich", don't waste your breath on these has beens!

Go about Six Posts to witness REAL Glam Metal History, what this site is all about BRINGING BACK, to a post Allyson titled "Just Because It's Awesome: Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi Together". She's also unearthed ultra rare footage from the same event -- Trick and Whitesnake with Coverdale on lead vocals doin' ZZ Top's "Tush" AND Trick and Crue with Vince Neil on lead vocals performing the Elvis classic, "Jailhouse Rock"!

Jaw dropping. Please go back to the post and comment.

Unless you want me to quit and all you Prog Metallists who are taking over this site can have the boards!

I was interested in looking at those Cheap Trick clips but now I have no desire. In fact I will avoid them like the plague. Honestly, Glam Metal will never be in the mainstream. I for one would never want it to be. Same thing would happen again, it would turn into watered down crap.

I love Motley Crue & Poison. But neither band has members that are masters at their instruments. Hell, Nikki Sixx doesn't play a note of bass guitar live anymore. There are just as much of has beens.

That's one of the great things about rock and metal music. So many different variations to fit your mood. I just don't see the point of getting your panties in a twist over a Non-Glam Article or people commenting on those more. I know, the sites called "Bring Back Glam"...yadda yadda yadda.

Though off topic of this original thread... I have to agree with Metalboy to some extent. It is true that there are good "mainstream / more modern" bands that are very good at what they do. In fact, SR-71 is one of my top 5 bands of all time. But... There are a TON of "modern / newer" glam bands or hidden glam bands that never got their due "back in the day" to write.
It is true that there are 100's of sites where you can go read about these bands. Many times I check the main page on this site and don't even read the post or comments because there is nothing even remotely glam about it.

Again.. there is no doubt that there are many great bands who are not glam. But if I want to read about them I'll go to another site.

If you look at my photos from M3 and ROK, you can see that I have almost no good shots of the band. Why? Because Ed and Scott were pushed as far back as possible, with no lighting. Whip and Parker were spread far apart and not even fully lit when soloing together. Mr. Tate has clearly taken full control, going so far as to write the latest band album with outside writers - and putting out a decidedly non-QR effort.
I hope they all spend some time apart, have some fun, and come back with a new energy that has clearly been lacking this past year.

NirVana! Metal Dad! I had to come back to say "Hi!". It's been awhile. Did you see RATT at M3? That was the REAL event of the festival. Not this Queensryche crap, sorry, Bro! I'm campin' out on Allyson's post called "Just Because This is Awesome: Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi Together". Come hang out... We're hangin' with Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, David Coverdale, Viv Campbell and Rudy Sarzo back there. Good to see you on here. Wish I had run into you at M3. You comin' to Cinderella in August at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore? I'll be THERE! Regards to Heather.

p.s. Tell Christian to get back there, too. It's time for him to BRING BACK GLAM!

Note to Impaler: listen to yourself, Bro! You're no true GLAM METALhead!!! Shoulda known with a name like IMPALER! Poseur! Poseur! Say "Hi!" to Sam Dun for me, another one who just fundamentally has ZERO understanding of METAL. For example, if he really knew METAL, he would have known "Rumble" by Link Wray from 1958 is the first real Metal song as this is the first real document of the Powerchord, which he is credited with inventing.

Note to ROCK-It! Come on back and hang out on the Cheap Trick/Bon Jovi post, Bro and comment (good or bad). That's where the REAL Rock and Roll is!
June 13, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Look you jackass, I grew up listening to all the glam metal & still listen to today. It is by far my favorite genre. 99% of the shows I go to are glam metal. I just don't limit myself to one kind of Metal. Sam Dunn is idiot & I can't stand him. I don't like any of these newer bands. Except for the newer ones in the glam Vain. My "name" I use here & everywhere online has nothing to do with my musical taste.

Chill out Metalboy! Your opinion on what bands are good is fine. Just don't be offended when other people don't agree. If it makes you happy I will check out the Cheap Trick videos(as I have stated in another post, they are one of my favorite bands).

Metalboy, I have not been reading much, I've been sick, FWIW. You're welcome to assume that all the good music in history happened to occur in a narrow band of time when you were a teenager. I honestly can't hear how the hook laden arena rock of Nickelback is any different to Motley Crue OR Poison, except that Motley is something I am more familiar with ( which is not a bad thing ), but Nickelback is, as a result, more fresh. Either way, you're entitled to your viewpoint, and to discuss it. I'm not sure that I care about anyone who talks about 'true glam' or true anything else. I listen to music I like, I don't worry about if it fits a label that my peers are likely to identify with. That's because I'm 43, and not 15.
