Just Because This Is Awesome: Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi, Live Together

Cheap Trick and Bon Jovi performed live together back in 1988. The songs are "Ain't That a Shame / Not Fade Away." This is quite possibly one of the Glamest things I've ever watched. Thanks to our own Metalboy! for sending along this great clip!

Want more? Here's Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi and Whitesnake performing a cover of ZZ Top's "Tush."

Here's Cheap Trick, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi doing a cover of the Elvis hit "Jailhouse Rock."

How frickin' cool was that!! ! LOVE me some Cheap Trick. One of the most criminally underrated bands of my lifetime. Thanks for posting this Ally, and a bigger thanks to my man Metalboy for unearthing it!!

Thanks, Gary. Yeah, guys, I'm a major Cheap Trick fan and thought I'd seen it all. This is the beauty of YouTube in action.

Imagine my eyes popping out of my head and hitting the insides of my chrome lensed Ray-Ban Aviators when I watched the first clip.

But I am obviously not the Metal Detector Ally is, as she unearthed the subsequent videos that follow.

Anybody have any idea what this footage is from? I'm guessin' The 1998 MTV Video Awards.

p.s. Get a load of Zander's and Bon Jovi's get ups. This really is the battle of the worst jackets ever. Vince Neil wins coolest jacket award for sure.

Correction: 1988 MTV Music Awards (?)

GOOD GLAM, THIS ROCKS!!!! DANG, I miss the days where bands actually jammed like this! Thanks Ally for posting this!

I was curious where this jam happened (didn't look like anything associated with MTV cause their logo would have been plastered everywhere) so i just did some random hunting (or googling, haha)....this is what I came across

Oh, and let's not forget:

GARY GLAM

p.s. I was gonna say GARY GLITTER but we might want to only remember THAT Gary for his music.

Note to Britt: You gotta watch ALL the clips. Tommy can be seen in quick cuts throughout behind the drum kit AND Vince is front and center in the third clip. AND I think you're right -- it's a live feed cutaway to a Cheap Trick concert in L.A. from The MTV Music Awards broadcast in New York. It's no coincidence that Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear (yes, that's her) are at a podium in L.A. to introduce the band. Kari makes a point that there aren't any MTV graphics but that's probably because it's a cutaway to. Live show. The same thing still generally holds true these days when they sometimes will still cutaway to a live feed to a band in concert. But odds are it's not gonna be a Rock'n'GLAM Jam such as we are so fortunate to have documented HERE. Ah, THOSE were the days! Bring Back GLAM! Bring Back GLAM!

I am also camping out on this post until more GLAM fans come check out this extraordinary piece of Rock and Roll History! I am, however, SO glad to see 5 out of the last 6 Bring Back GLAM Posts are devoted to GLAM (with the exception of the one about Rising West, whoever that is)!

Yep. that's the real deal !

Shouts out to Metalboy for keeping this post alive!

I don't remember the actual gig, but Cheap Trick is always an in concert favorite. One of my favorite sayings about Cheap Trick is that they are just about everybody's 3rd favorite band. So much talent of the day on that stage, CT, David Coverdale, Viv Campbell, Quiet Riot/Whitesnake bassist Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldridge & Tommy Lee (those 2,a drummer's dream) oh, & Vince. Nice jacket, Vince.

LOL Ace! Great point about Cheap Trick being everybodies 3rd favorite. I have NEVER met a person who disliked them, regardless of their favorite genre of music. That would be because they write incredibly good songs, which will cross over to just about anybodies tastes. I always liked them because they never took themselves too frickin' seriously, which in my book goes a long way.Saw Rick on That Metal Show a while back. The guy is hilarious, along with being a criminally under-rated axe man...

And yeah Metalboy. Gary Glitter is definitely not a name I wanna be associated with, after his proclivities with youngsters came to light......LOL
